Title: America's Army

Just wondering if anyone else plays the game. It's completely free to download and has the quality of any commercial game. AA homepage

I did for a while. Not bad at all and the training is pretty cool feature (except that damned parachute one...mine never opened :( )

I thought it played a lot like counter strike to me, or at least on the servers I played on. Though it did have more depth then the aforementioned.

Personally I prefer Call of Duty as the roles are more defined there. Spots for sniping, areas for machine guns, and so on. The only downside with the new one is the f*cking trench or shotgun. The ppsh was bad enough but now that got something worse, uck.

But, if your into the new age warfare thing I would go with BF2 over AA. You get planes, apcs, tanks, mounted machine guns, and a whole whack of other things. The only big downside is that you have to pay for it.

I used to play AA like it was heaven. Then the newer versions have been seriously screwed up for me lately. I might try it again at some point, but my faith is shaken.

BF2 looks like a cool game, but I like the more realistic approach with AA. You can really tell that using teamwork and tactics wins missions on AA.

Its been a while since I played AA, but from what I can remember most of the servers I played on didn't use teamwork as much as two guys running in the same direction with a machine gun in hand.

From what Traken says things have changed since then (its been about a year and a half since I last played.

I know in BF2 Teamwork (when used) wins the battles. Its not odd to see one person taking a convoy heli and playing an entire match shuttling people to the hot zones or have players wait in vehicles for you to catch up and get a ride. That is pretty the only thing I like about BF2 over CoD. I still have fond memories of grabbing a buggy, have a few guys hop in and do some insane jumps into the enemys base's.

...wow, I just inspired myself to reinstall the game

Yeah BF 2 is a pretty awesome game, if only it'd run properly on Windows 2000 :( (it doesn't).

I played AA for quite some time and I fought in a clan, it was really cool. I had like 22 honor or so when I stopped playing.

We oughtta get together and play sometime, guys. We'd rule most servers since we'd usually be the only squad working together.

Sounds great, but we live in very different timezones, and I'd have to download all new versions since Vanguard <_<

Sure I'm game for it. Getting bored of most my other games anyways, besides CoD2 and Resident Evil 4 (bloody amazing on the PS2, they added another 3-4 hours of game time when they converted it from the gamecube... go ADA!)

RE4 is out for the PS2....damn good news. Gonna have to spend some Xmas money on it. ^_^

Aye, and its been dubbed one of the best PS2 games out there. Truth be told I can't find any reason to dispute that. The amount of detail (not only graphic, which pushed the PS2 to the max, but also the plot and story) is incrediable. I will not ruin the experiance for you but the plot with the PS2 version (like I mentioned above you get an extra 3-4 hours) is on par if not better then RS2 (which is saying quite a bit in my opinion).

If you like Zombie, and action games then you will love this one. The only unfortunate thing is it is more an action game then horror. I don't think you will find any moments like RS2's licker interigation room or crow hallway, but there will be times that will make you flinch. lol after the crow hallway I had to go relieve myself, and restart from last save because the crows killed me when I made the 100m dash to the toliet (it probably didn't help to be playing the game at 3 in the morn, in pitch black and volume blasting  )

Oh yes, back to AA, how many people still play? Its all well and good to get a group of people together but if there is no one playing anymore it might get a little tedious fighting each other.
