Title: Sigs
Description: The place to discuse Sigs and Quotations
Xenophon - October 9, 2005 07:49 AM (GMT)
We are only 800 posts away from hitting the magic 10,000 number!!!!
Most websites are lucky to get one 1/10 of that (which coincidently is the amount I and nulli have posted... :o ).
Right now there hasen't been a whole lot of posting, can't say I blame ya.
I don't feel like posting much either, the wait is killing me.
Meh, I have waited 8 months already (well more then that actually, 10 months if you include Legio Leonis) for this game I can wait a few more while they nail down the finer points.
NulliSecundus - October 9, 2005 09:26 AM (GMT)
Wow we spammers :P. Right now I'm just playing a little battlefield 1942 to pass the time and working on NCA in beta.
Like Xeno said, I wouldn't expect people to be constantly posting as it would seem we have exahusted every possible avanue of conversation in relation to Roma Victor.

Xenophon - October 9, 2005 05:51 PM (GMT)
Tsk Tsk Lhorkan you need to know how to count it is 797 to be exact
Anyways, when Roma Victor comes out we will see a lot of posting again. I know a few people have been doing other things in the meanst time.
Right now I am keeping busy by doing my school work and playing my seemingly endless video games (I counted, and I have over 45 PS2 games, excluding the ones I gave away. This is about half of my current computer games, which I just downsized and got rid of all my old and never played games...about 30 of those.)
P.S. I bought Empire Earth 2...I wish I hadn't. What a boring and slow paced game.
The Red Baron - October 10, 2005 04:16 AM (GMT)
Empire Earth 2 is alright, I dont favour many RoN knockoffs though.
Like my new qoutes guys?(sig)
maf359 - October 10, 2005 10:55 AM (GMT)
There you go that's one more post closer to the 10,000 post mark
I'll keep on playing Eve Online for now.
Xenophon - October 10, 2005 07:33 PM (GMT)
Britt- Your first one is too "wordy". Quotes should be short and sweat, generally.
Your second one is pretty good but I would subsitute tempts for another word. But, since it is your quote you can do whatever you want.
Edit- Your first one... good and evil sounds too preachy. Besides they are only perceptions, with quotes you want each person who reads it to think the same thing. For instance I believe it is evil to kill an unborn child. There others out there that do not believe so.
Now live, he who fights valiantly for his country/cause/beliefs/god/honour etc.
That is more effective.
Xenophon - October 10, 2005 09:28 PM (GMT)
While I'm at it Maf you should change your sig a bit
QUOTE
There is always two ways at looking at an idea, he who does not understand that can never truly be wise
Should be "There is always two ways at looking at an idea, he who does not understand this can never be called wise"
You used both past and present tense in your quote. This is a big no-no for any piece of work. Since it is a quote you almost always want it to be current, or present tense.
Also having never and truly together just dosen't work. Removed truly and added "called" after "be". The sentence is now much more effective.
Xenophon - October 10, 2005 09:37 PM (GMT)
Oh hell I will look at yours too Nulli.
QUOTE
Navigating the space between brilliance and madness.
"There are no coincidences. We think they're coincidences because our model of the world doesn't account for them. We're tied up in cause and effect." Carl Gustavus Jung
"One grain of sand against the tide of time makes little differance." Bevan |
First one is good. Short, and to the point. You make your statement which people can either agree or disagree, and you don't have the words "I think" or "possibly" showing that your mind is totally set on the meaning behind it. Good Job.
The second is a quote from someone so I will not twiddle around to make it better. Not a bad quote at all, though, maybe thats because I believe what it says.
Hmmm your third one is very good, though it reminded me of Prince of Persia Sands of Time each time I read it (did you modify something the prince says?).
Maybe you should think about changing the word "little". Look at the above two quotes you have. Both are a statement that are rock hard. Yours, on the other hand, while making a statement does have a little leeway which says in as much that you believe that your statement dosen't always happen.
It would be better if you had either black or white, but no gray. Even if you believe otherwise, that sometimes there is some white with your black it is best to say you stand behind your ideal completely.

[QUOTE=Xenophon,Oct 11 2005, 07:28 AM]
"There is always two ways at looking at an idea, he who does not understand this can never be called wise"
I don't personally like the idea of 'never be called wise' it wasn't what I was going for.
With writing 'that' instead of 'this' all I can say is oops.
Here are some other versions of my quote.
1. There is always two ways at looking at an Idea, he who does not understand this can never be truly wise (That was how I was going to word it , but I changed my mind).
2. There is always two ways at looking at an Idea, he who does not understand this will never become wise.
Does anyone thing those two sound any better?
Xenophon - October 11, 2005 05:13 PM (GMT)
Fair enough Maf.
For your first one. Having Truly in their just sounds to wordy. You either be wise or not wise there isn't that much in the middle. I would just cut Truly out of there, but if you still want to bring that certain punch across then "Really" has a bit better effect I believe,
Your second one is a different idea. Your first one is about perception and how a person cannot be considered wise if they don't look at both sides of the picture.
While the other one is talking about how one person cannot be wise unless they look at both sides of the picture.
Which one where you hoping for?
NulliSecundus - October 13, 2005 07:16 AM (GMT)
What does quotations have to do with the price of fish in China, or for this matter our spamage.
Xenophon - October 13, 2005 03:58 PM (GMT)
I would rather have spam then nothing.
And why make a new topic just about sigs? I may as well do it here, ironic enough that with all this spamage the magic number is coming closer.
NulliSecundus - October 13, 2005 09:50 PM (GMT)
Now your on topic, go spam-tasticly-nut's.
Knowledge comes but wisdom lingers
maf359 - October 14, 2005 11:06 AM (GMT)
Your all a pack of ****** spamers
I'll go with the secound one for now Xeno
Xenophon - October 14, 2005 04:51 PM (GMT)
That was my prefered choice too Maf.
Oh Nulli I see you have changed the title, meh whatever works.
Anyone else want to submit a quote, and have it torn apart
Mordhak - October 14, 2005 06:45 PM (GMT)
Do me, Xeno!
One of my most famous quotes:
QUOTE
Frankly my dear I don't give a shit.
Xenophon - October 14, 2005 08:03 PM (GMT)
"Frankly my dear I don't give a shit."
I don't know how to tear this one apart. It says Mordhak all over it.
There is also another quote that comes to mind when thinking about Mordhak "Pigeon Power!" Hooyah.
Edit- For the first quote maybe add in "just" like so "Frankly my dear I just don't give a shit" or have a comma after dear such as "Frankly my dear, I don't give a shit"
Or better yet combine them "Frankly my dear, I just don't give a shit."
The Red Baron - October 14, 2005 09:29 PM (GMT)
now live =backwards= evil won (this is for my sig) scroll up ;)
Xenophon - October 14, 2005 10:15 PM (GMT)
Britt I am confused. What are you saying? I know it is about your sig, but....other then that
NulliSecundus - October 15, 2005 12:09 AM (GMT)
Mordhak's quote is a jazzed up version of the famous line that Clark Gable says in Gone with the wind.
"Say hello to my little friend!"
Xenophon - October 15, 2005 03:19 AM (GMT)
Lol, I think Al Picano would be pissed right now if he saw this.
Mordhak - October 15, 2005 09:59 AM (GMT)
Actually it really is a modified movie quote. The original is, "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn." <_<
And about the comma. I had to edit more than just "shit" a'right.
NulliSecundus - October 15, 2005 11:09 AM (GMT)
I know, but the quote itself is common knoweldge, the person and the movie are somewhat not.
Mordhak - October 15, 2005 03:02 PM (GMT)
Frankly my dear I don't give a shit.
The Red Baron - October 15, 2005 06:16 PM (GMT)
QUOTE (Xenophon @ Oct 14 2005, 10:15 PM)

Xeno, the qoute is "Now live, now who won the fight between good and evil?"
Now live backwards is evil won. So evil won.
Xenophon - October 15, 2005 10:24 PM (GMT)
Haha, I see a riddle not bad Great Britt.
