Title: Whats Your Guys Favorite Game?

Xenophon - October 7, 2005 02:46 AM (GMT)
Video game that is. Also what is your favorite rpg?

Mine right now is broken between CoD and RTW.

Favorite RPG is still the old FF7. If had the greatest plot, as far as other rpgs now. So much so, that it is one of the only (and I own just about every type of rpg after it too) that I couldn't sit down and say "This is going to happen, she is going to fall in love with and be happy ever after, etc". Star Ocean 3 (never played the other two) had the best combat I have seen for its style. Its live single control combat character is much refreshing after the mindless X button mashing with the Final Fantasy Series. Unfortunatly its plot suffered big further on, and how 80% of the game was set on an underdeveloped planet. You hardly ever got to see, let alone play in outer space.

Radiata Knights would have taken both if the developers had spent more time on making cities and more importantly characters + quests. They had a great many recruitable characters, but the plot after you choose your path is horrible. I wanted to be a mage or a thief or wanted to be a real crusader with a real squad with a upgraded sleeping area. Nothing. A few quests with the knights, several for the fighters guild and your done. I beat the game without even being tempted to look at a manual or cheats. The hardest part has the damned ruins, which was more frusterating then difficult. And the ending... I stood for about 10 minutes waiting, and waiting and f*cking waiting for some sort of ending. What do I get? No welcome home, no cheering crouds or talk with the king. Not even a simple thank you. All I see is my sorry ass walking down away from the city. I just killed a beast that was about to destroy all humanity and I don't even get a single hand wave. Suffice to say that pissed me off so much I haven't even wanted to retry the game.

My all time Favourite RPG was Arcanum, it combined the excellent new innovations of fallout with new graphics and an awesome new world and story. I still play it and just love it.

In terms of my favourite game, it would have to be Starcraft. I've played it for many years now and will probably still be playing it in another 5 or 6. Again its just an awesome game.

I loved Arcanum too, I played many hours on the big demo I had. The only set back was the graphics... but maybe thats what made it so much fun. It focused on plot and quests then big pretty pictures.

I have only played starcraft once, in an interenet cafe so I don't know a whole lot about it. Except it was made by Blizzard and a hugely popular game (which is basically repeating myself B) )

Great Britt- I haven't tried CoD2 yet, I'm not a big fan of single player (odd since I usually hate playing online). BF 1942 gets boring after a while, same with BF2. To many vechiles in the game. It makes it more a vechile vs. vechile then my prefered character vs. character.

RTW was amazing, the expanision is a major let down for me though. The only reason I would buy it was if one of the good conversions required it (such as RTR, Fourth Age, Shogun (which is being modded by Bthizle), and a few others).

My favorite RPG would be a tie between Morrowind & Betrayal at Krondor on the PC & Alundra on the ps1, I spent weeks finishing Alundra and view it as my arch de triumph on the ps1.

My favorite RTS game would probably be all of the total war series, I'm waiting for the barbarian Invasion expansion to come out here in Aus to buy it along with Rome Total War in a boxed set.

My Favorite MMORPG would have to be Roma Victor, although it's still probably got a while before it is finished and released I love the community atmosphere and the almost sole player driven world.

My favorite FPS would be a three way tie between BF 1942,CS:S and CS:S Day of defeat.

Best RPG I've ever played would be Gothic 2.

Best game I'm playing currently playing would be a toss up between Battlefield 2 and Rome Total War. But since they are two completely different genres I don't think you could decide.

At the moment my favorite games are EVE Online and Rome Total war.

The ten greatest games of all time.

10. Call of duty
9. Capitalism
8. Counter strike 1.5
7. Wolfenstine 3D
6. Red Alert 1
5. Caesar 3
4. Elite
3. Civilizations 2
2. Sonic 3 and Knuckles
1. Steel / Cyber Empire (That game rocked so much).

Well that’s what I think.

Another great game is Mount & Blade, with the new version you can fight in the desert or in the snow, heaps of fun in my opinion.

Xenophon - October 12, 2005 06:56 PM (GMT)
What is Mount and Blade? What can you do there, and how much does it cost?

NulliSecundus - October 12, 2005 09:25 PM (GMT)
Mount & Blade It is a RPG currently in development, I think it cost's around 11 dollars to buy a serial for.

Xenophon - October 12, 2005 10:46 PM (GMT)
Meh dosen't look bad. From what I read, though, you can't build stuff nor be blacksmith or the like. Armies look to be noobish in nature (ie you can buy hordes of men without spending too much.

Hopefully, though, roma victor will have most of the combat aspects (which was well done in mount&blade).

NulliSecundus - October 13, 2005 07:14 AM (GMT)
LMAO, It costs you around 300 gold to buy say 20 millita.

Xenophon - October 13, 2005 04:01 PM (GMT)
Exactly, only 300 gold. How much does a plate mail for your hero cost?...

It should be very hard to buy the soldiers (maybe 300 gold per one or more) so that there is less massive armies roaming around and that when you do see a big army you turn tail and run, instead of going to the local merc market, droping a thousand dollars and matching that army man per man.

NulliSecundus - October 13, 2005 09:43 PM (GMT)
Plate mail is 2000-ish. Millita is cheap because they are crappy troops, peasents are 11 gold per peasent I belive, it all comes down to you get what you pay for.
