Some of you might know, there is going to be a "expansion" on final fantsay 7.
BUT, instead of it being a game it will actually be an cg movie.
It is called Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children. And damn does it look fine.
Here is the site:

-And two amazing trailers. A Must see, even if your not into this fantasy rpg crap.
Enjoy
Really :( I just heard about it when I was... "borrowing" some music from a site.
Can't wait until it comes out, should be end of this year.
It came out about the 15th of September. ;)
In Japan that is, it will come out as a English version... sometime, which i do not know. For those who are happy with the Subtitles (recommended) it is possible to "find" * it online. It is a very good film indeed.

It is a very good movie. I was actually shocked how well they were able to pull it off. The only thing I didn't like was the bicycle fights... A little too unrealistic.
And yes, I will be buying it once it's in the States. :P
Alright I watched the movie a few days ago (I was writing this post then my computer froze.. :o ) and I have to say, they didn't fuck up this time.
Unfortunatly I downloaded the japanese version without subtitles...uck. But I did understand most of what was happening and why, by the emotions on their faces, the english trailors I watched, and by what was happening on screen.
Anyways, the most important piece of any story is the plot which I knew from boards and trailors (as well as the movie itself of course)
Advent Childern has an interesting plot to say the least. And it is a small step up from the average, end of the world idea. I will not give out too many details about it, but I will say that it fits in with ff7 game very well.
Next, is the sound. In case most of you didnt know, without sound it is very, very hard to have your viewer engaged.
In Advent Children music is composed once again by Uest...(I have no idea how to spell his name), well the big man that has done almost every final fantasy track. He came back, revamped so of the old music, added some new and made a kicking beat out of it.
The special sound effects where spot on, and I don't remember a time thinking "what the hell was that?"
Character voices- Well since the english verision is not out I will comment on the japanese side. And, for the most part they had a good group of sound actors. Unfortunatly most of the big guns only had a few lines to say (like Nanaki or red 13, aeris... well I suppose since she is dead that can be excused ;); yuffi, well no one really cares for her anyways and barret which I was dissapointed didn't play a bigger part.
Most of the time it was Cloud, Tifa, the bad guys, man in the white cloak (won't spoil who it is to you guys), Vincent (damn he had a great voice actor I thought), and a few others such as the turks.
Overall I have to say the sound was good, almost no grudges but nothing that blows you out of the water either, besides maybe the sound track.
Graphics. Well, I believe the proper term is CG but I will just call it computer aminated just to be safe. The graphics I believed where great and there was only a few times where I thought they could have done it better, mostly that was the background.
The bad guys could have had a more diverse set of uniforms I thought, as they pretty much all the same style.
They did a great job on the turks, making them seem more important then they where in origanal game (going by video game standards of the more detailed and unique outfit/figure the more important the person).
For the most part I loved the graphics, and am glad that they spent the time they did making it look good.
Characters- Well, Cloud is the main character (surprise surprise) acts more like a lone wolf now then he did in the origanl. He's got a nifty wolf head attached to his armour probably having to do with his personality. His sword skills are what they should be, he is neither so underpowered that you catch yourself asking (and I defeated sephiroth with him?) nor is he so uber that you are bored watching him.
Tifa, well, she has trimmed down the whore image we all loved (tight tank top, white of course, with a black micro skirt. And has not up the articles of clothing to something you would not be embarresed to met your folks in. Her character is much the same as the original but it fells that she is more independent. It also looks like she takes care of marlene (sp?) instead of barret (who the hell knows where barret is for most of this movie).
Barret, lol, I basically summed him up in the last sentence. He is a ghost for the most part as the only times you see him is when they are battling the massive blank monster and on the airship. Really, the war could have been won if barret had stayed home and ate a tub of icecream. A true dissapointment since I actually liked him in the game. Here, he just dosent have enough screen time to bring out his character.
Aeris, well she is in the movie. Cloud takes to her in two (I believe) flash backs. But her presence is found through out the movie. How? Well I will just leave you hanging on that one.
Nanaki, the real name of red 13 (of which I always named him when playing ff7). He has the most dissapointing air time of all the characters. He gets an amazing 2 lines of dialog and besides a neat little intro is seen as much as barret. He is, cool, none the less during that air time. Unfortunatly, it seems his attitude has changed a little since he is now "companioned" with...
Cait Sith (sp?), that stupid cat and mog thing. But now the mog is no where to be seen (I forget if something happens to it in ff7... besides the ancients temple). Cait now rides Nanaki and is amusing to see. Although I never liked the bugger in the original he seems to be... alittle better this time around. Still would have prefered if they cut him and instead gave that air time too barret or someone else.
Yuffie, well she has grown up, somewhat. She is more of a ninja now then before which bodes well for those that actually liked her (I didnt really care one way or another until I had get back my materia... then she became public enemy #1 and was incredicably dissapointed that Cloud didnt push the button to make her drop to her death.) Anyways, shes back and is actually usefull to the gang.
Vincent, oh baby, he's back and better then ever. He he's got the moves in this movie, though he dosen't turn into any monsters... which may have been just as good. He gets the most air time out of all the sidekicks besides maybe tifa. Because of this his voice acting and character detail is very good. You just have to watch him in action.
Cid, a cool character who I liked in the original. He's back but dosen't get a lot of air time. He seems cooler this time around though.
The bad trio, well I will not go into a lot of detail but besides being the bad guys with a lot of combat skills their personalities are not original. They are almost bland besides their leader who has a decent enough.
The turks, well it is really just Reno and Rude (the two main ones from ff7). These guys are the comic relief for the movie and do a good job, without me understanding what they are saying. These guys actually get more air time then Cid, nanaki, yuffie, barret, and cait sith put together. Odd, but it seems to work out fine since the main setting is in midgar.
My only big beef is that shinra military is no where to be found. Not a single soldier is seen in this movie. Stupid I think since the whole thing is set in midgar.
What else, intro was good. The final boss battle was great, ending was lame (well I guess that is mainly due to me not understanding what they where saying).
Overall, worth paying 15-20 bucks for, and nice to see some loose ends tied up.
The ending makes a lot more sense if you actually know what's going on. :D
I knew what was going on....the children being...
*cough* Spoiler
Healed
*Cough* End of Spoiler
I just found it didn't make me want to cheer or cry. I thought winning the final battle to be the big cheer and all.
Meh, I suppose you have be able to hear what they are saying in order to appericate it more.
