Title: Welcome To The Confederacy

invegarr - August 27, 2005 11:28 PM (GMT)
Dear fellow barbarians Braithar Prasgan The Nervii welcomes you to The Confederacy. As our 2 tribes I certainly hope we can maintain a strong bond with the Braithar. This Confederacy will be a legacy to remember and as Braithar enters we have much gratitude and respect towards Braither. I hope this Confederacy brings much greatness to both clans. Stalcach Miuil has been chosen for your councilman and we invite not just him but all of you to join the forums on the Nervii that being said I shall say this now LONG LIVE THE CONFEDERACY.

Yours truly…
~Invegarr of The Nervii

Hello Invegarr, I remeber this pact from way back when Devicus (Sp?) thought it up (or at least I am assuming he did). I remeber him telling me that he was going to try and get the Tuatha in on it.

I have to say, don't bother. Save your time and try looking at another guild who is more open to diplomacy.

Anyways, could you post what this Pact is about? Over such a length of time (before april if I remeber correctly) I have only a basic understanding of what it is.

- Tribes, warbands and cults wishing to join the Gallic Confederacy must consist of Gauls, germans or celtic heretige.

- Non Agression Pact

-Free Trading, Safe passage

-Laws of hospitality

- Mutual Protection/Right to ask for aid on the the subject of warfare

-Set up of a Confederacy forum Internly

-Right for shelter & protection

-Confederacy Council

Basicly it is a strong alliance between clans if we need aid i assume youll aid us if your tribesman are wandering around gaul will welcome them to our village we hope to possibly one day Unite against the romans and others. hope this explains a lil more.

Thanks, now as for the forum. Would it not make more sense to create an entire new forum so we all have once place to post. Not 7?

My, that was a little bit of an unnecessary dig at us, lol.

Xeno, I dont think that is entirely fair. We are very open to diplomacy, we always have been and always will be. Diplomacy is about dialogue and creating understanding. Not, we believe, about jumping on board every alliance opportunity which presents itself. That’s skipping diplomacy.

We are not specifically hostile to the idea of forming closer links with other clans, especially as the commercial test nears. If we were to enter into any arrangement with another clan though we would obviously like to be involved in the drawing up of the terms of what we are signing ourselves up for!. ;)
To create something viable each party needs to have input into the details, so as to produce something everyone is comfortable with.

Personally, I'd be happy to discuss the possibilities with either or both of your clans. Who knows, we may find some common ground.

Hit me on MSN anytime.

My MSN is: fattheboy@hotmail.com

( although, as it happens I won't be around for a week or so theres no rush  )

What I meant Fatboy is not that you guys are thick skulled (which I believe you think that comment means) but that you have already listened to the offer and decided against it.

Also while you talk about diplomacy you have never made any pacts and have many times stated that you will not until game release.

Thought to save him some time and effort.

I may hit you up on that offer to talk, though I will not have access to a computer come Sunday.

Maybe we can get to know each better this way.

invegarr - September 3, 2005 06:22 AM (GMT)
umm nervii wouldnt like to get in the way of tuath and braithars past experiences but i do look forward with talking to you fatboy :)

Invegarr, in case you havent noticed the Confederacy Councils have been made. Now, Xeno could you put a passsword on them? Non-allied Romans and Barbarians alike shouldnt be able to look at it.

*throws Invegarr a knife and encourages him to join fight* ..... *at tthe arena  *

Invegarr, seek out whom you wish, you do not have to heed anyones advise, set your sails to the winds you wish.

Formal and official pacts serve to communicate a mutual agreement between groups to the public.

Yes, we do not engage formal and official pacts at the current time.

Like fatboy said - as the full commercial test nears, we will become more open to formal and official diplomacy.

Our previous statements regarding game release have been somewhat confusing. Blaim RedBedlam's alternative approach to game development. Our stance is this: we will not engage in formal and official pacts until it becomes relevent to the reality of the Roma Victor gameworld.

Are you suggesting we've been undiplomatic? Diplomacy, in our view, involves more then just wars, pacts and alliances. Rome Victor is not an alternative form of Rome Total War.

The 'pact' as result of the forum spamming is an example of how we feel formal diplomacy should work.

I thought I should elaborate the words of my collegue. He won't be avaible to the Tuatha until next week. :)

NulliSecundus - September 6, 2005 05:21 AM (GMT)
That's an interesting statement Demson, my view of these alliances and pacts are tools to further cement and establish relations with other guilds, they could also serve the purpose of establishing possible role playing events eg. diplomatic convoy. I will not comment further on the subject since I'm neither a diplomat nor ambassador for our guild.

Regards,

NulliSecundus.

Nope, just that you hold back from making major diplomatic agreements. I agree with you that this is not Rome Total War. Instead I think of it more like real life, there are times when you most consider making pacts, even for a short time, to reach your ultimate goal. Very few countries can fight wars with partners and win. Alliance make your enemies think twice, but can also be dangerous.

Reason and Wisdom are the only true defence against a ally who is not all that loyal.

Like Nulli said diplomatic pacts are tools for the country, and if one does not use it, he needlessly encumbers himself.
