Title: Changing My Persona
Cathair - August 16, 2005 06:29 PM (GMT)
It appears that now the guild has a vast amount of Champions/Smiths that will be available at launch. Instead of just being a dime a dozen, I was thinking that, with the guild leaders approval I would change my persona to more of a Celtic hunter type person. In this, I could maybe be a fletcher, have bow skills unlike any other (bows are supposed to be semi-accurate if you learn to master them) and the added bonus of hunting... not only animals ;) What do you guys have to say?
(Wasn't sure of where to post this)

Gģomanach Bogha would be my name, and a huge thanks to Jug for helping me with that one.

If that's what you wanto do, then there's no stopping you.

Sounds like a very good idea, gives us a nice early food source. And a good hunter and tracker who knows the forests in our area so we can eaily ambush attackers.

I dont see the problem in changing your occupation, actually I'm glad you decided to do this, we'll need to meat more than the armor.

Well while you're in the forest hunting goats you might aswell forage for dung. If you'd be so kind ;)

I am thinking about the same thing, maybe going into a monk warrior sort of thing. Focusing on combat and prayer. I guess I will hold my decision until I had a chance to test things out.

That would be kind of hard considering that none of the religious figures in Celtic/Germanic history were involved with war... And I'm betting RB will make it near impossible to be even mediocre at both at the same time.

I don't believe you have to believe in war gods if your a soldier. Also Combat isn't completely based on your skill lvl in combat. Not to mention you don't have to try to be perfect at both. I am going to wait and see what I like when the game comes out.

Whaaaaa? That's a joke right? Look up Segomo or Smertios.
Cathair - August 18, 2005 05:59 AM (GMT)
Well you are partially right. I guess I should have left out Germannic, and said only Celtic Druids. I have no idea why I included the Germannic tribes, I really don't know much about them.
Brennin Bark - August 18, 2005 06:06 AM (GMT)
Well, the two I named are Gallic/ Celtic. I don't know much aboutthe Germanics either, but given how warlike they were I'd expect a few war/ conflict oriented gods.
::edit:: Looks like a lot of the old germanic gods were, surprise surprise, related to the norse and scandanavian gods. Wodan= Odin, Donar= Thor
::edit again::
Check this out Ziu/ Tyr was the germanic war god.

Segomo/Smertios were gods. I was talking about the people who worshipped them, they never went into combat. It was one of the perks of being a Druid.
Jolius - August 18, 2005 07:38 PM (GMT)
I didn't know you had to be a priest (man of worship) to pray and believe in a faith/god.
Maybe I should set everyone straight. What I was really thinking of doing was focusing on combat and doing lore on the side. Basically I guess I would just be a very religious solder. It would be cool to RP as that because I am atheist. I dont care if I wouldnt be that great at lore. I think it would be a fun thing to combine.
Cathair - August 18, 2005 07:47 PM (GMT)
Well then I misunderstood you ;) I thought by monk-fighter you meant a sort of druidic warrior, which would be very hard to do under the current skill system and rightfully so. But yes, some of the most pious of the Celtic religion were the warriors.

Just finished the first of 3 (what I'm currently planning) chapters. When I finish all three and spell check/grammar check them for the millionth time I'll put them in the writing area.
