Title: Suggestion For An Fps
Traken - July 26, 2005 06:06 AM (GMT)
Okay, it's finally time to spend my birthday money (a whole 2 months after the fact). What I need right now is a new game. I've been trying a couple MMO's but have yet to find something I like. Right now I am beta'ing Face of Mankind (should be sweet), but seeing as how they just changed engines and it's buggy as hell, there is no way to have any fun with it. I know that Beta isn't about fun, but .... yeah.
So, I'm looking for a new FPS (to go along with my new Razer Diamondback  ). CS:S is out the window since I have it and it runs horribly. BF2 is really out the window since I get 2fps with it. Right now I'm looking at UT2004 (are they just skipping 2005?), Call of Duty, and....well, those are the only one's I'm looking at right now. (Maybe Tribes: V, but it also runs badly unless setting are very low, then my eyes bleed.)
Anyone have any suggestions? If you play the game youself, great. Perhaps we could get together sometime.
Oh yeah, must be majorly online capable.

If you are gunna paly a MMORPG, then you should get Guild Wars, a mate gave me his account yesterday and its really cool. CoD aint that bad either, its quite good online. If your looking for somthing just until RV comes out though i wouldn't suggest a P2P MMORPG.

Alright first things first. Nulli beat me due to the fact that I hadn't played Battlefield in over a year, and I had forgotten how to even swith your weapon. Enough said.
As for a first person shooter.
Depends on your tastes. If you like using the old school weapons and war, Call of Duty is the bomb (in my opinion). You get a variety of maps and you can choose your own play style. Rush, sniper, team, solo, headquarters, search and destroy (and few others but they are pretty crappy). Each side has four weapons (sniper, rifle, sub, and automatic) except russia which only has three.
I play online a lot (100+ hours) and its rare that you meat some noob that fucks up your gaming experiance.
Also if you get the expansion you can have tanks and jeeps to field.
For 40 bucks you get both games (CoD and UO) which is a good deal for any game.
I don't think you will be dissapointed with your choice.

Xen if you try amazon or such places i am sure you could probally find Cod+Cod:UO for about £30.

Well, looks like I'll go with CoD. I'll just stop by Circuit City and get the Deluxe Edition and a new microphone.

Yes well it is 40 bucks Canadian... so... what is the conversion? Probably works out to be the same.
Anyways, Traken you will not be dissapointed.
Oh the single player aint half bad either. The best one I have played for world war 2 (your not a one man army here... but a twenty man one :) )

I would jsut get some demos, try Swat 4, thats good, or Rainbow 6: lockdown when it comes out, or Ghost Recon 2 when thats out for PC. They should be out soon if not out already in USA.

Eh, all those are a bit too slow for me.
Xeno: It's $40 USD....not sure how that is possible though. Perhaps they have seperate production facilities?

Not sure, in Canada it is 40 bucks in Future Shop. I would try there, if your close to the border then just hop it and head to a mall which has one. If you buy a wack of stuff there you will save some money I am sure.
If you haven't played CoD before then I suggest taking a demo. Nothing worse then paying that kind of money and realize that you would have rather wanted another title.

Well, too late for that. And so far I'm hooked on the singleplayer. It is totally kickass from beginning to around the start of russia's campaign (straight from Enemy at the Gates....) where all your comrades die and it's you vs. 2 divisions...
Have yet to play it online 'cause it's acting a bit funky and I need to do some driver updates. The soundtrack is awesome as well. :D
Xenophon - July 29, 2005 03:06 AM (GMT)
I agree. I played single player first, and I loved it. (I saw enemy at the gates, which I now own, after playing... and I thought damn somebody copied.)
Multiplayer is a lot of fun because you get some real smart players (and dumb of course) and you get to jam with some pals.
Add me to your xfire and we can play some time User Name: Xenophon21
Oh yes you have to update to the lastest driver, and make sure firewall allows it to go through (both windows and other).
I suggest using punkbuster servers as well since it tends to stop some of the hackers.
