Title: Sorry

Xenophon - July 24, 2005 07:34 AM (GMT)
Hello fellow guild members, sorry I have been away so much.

Last friday my computer was overwelmed with virus' (or at least that is when it stopped working). I took it into the shop on saturday, and I finally got it back today (a week saturday). Suffice to say I was pretty pissed that it took so long. All they had to do was save some files if they where uncorrupted and then nuke the entire computer. I have done this myself one time when I worked at a computer shop and it only took 3 hours. Their excuse was that they wanted to know all the problems so the next time I come in they will now what is wrong (total bs if you know anything about computers and virus') anyways the reason I did not rush and tell them off in order to get my computer back faster was that they where only going to charge me an hours worth of work (a real steal). Thus when all was said and done my bill was only a 100 bucks.

What this means now, since the man told me where some of it came from, is that I no longer will be on msn. This is where a large portion of the many virus' I got came from. I am not saying it is from you guys but from what I was told many ports are opened when on msn and hackers can use these to get inside my computer.

Anyways, you guys should be seeing a lot more of me in the future.

Damn...I'm going to miss our convos.

Xenophon - July 24, 2005 08:35 AM (GMT)
Aye same here. Maybe we can steal unto the Ventrillo server Apex?

NulliSecundus - July 24, 2005 08:38 AM (GMT)
Ha gotta love these adds and how they apply to topics.

Hey if we use their server we can talk to Ruby & Co. at the same time, now that would be a funny time.

I guess they took so long becuase they were looking at alot of the sites/sources you were visiting ;)

Also, I dont think anyone herewould hack into your comp. (I dont know how too :P )

Xenophon - July 24, 2005 08:48 PM (GMT)
Lol, they would have a good time then :P

No I believe they took so long because they where training someone or that they had a major order by a company.

Also the Team Speak server is up so please try it out (check private forums for more detail).

if youve worked in a shop and fixed this stuff before, why didn't you just fix it yourself and save a week+ $100???

I've built/rebuilt my own computers. I do regular maintenance on them too, the only viruses I can't chunk are those damn trojans.

Xenophon - July 26, 2005 02:43 AM (GMT)
I didnt fix it do to the fact I don't have the programs and because I was helped when I nuked the costumers computer.

Also I am looking to get a new video card for my system. What is the best out there and what is its approxement price?

Lastly what is a good way to boost up the speed of the machine? I already have a gig of ram in this sucker, but I would like something... alittle more faster.

Traken - July 26, 2005 05:55 AM (GMT)
Best out there is a GeForce 7800 GTX which will run you $500-600. In November, I believe, Nvidia is coming out with a GeForce 7800 GT which will be $450.

And we can't really tell you what to get if you don't tell us your specs. ;)

Xenophon - July 27, 2005 01:39 AM (GMT)
I suppose not, here is the specs:

- AMDAthlon 64 Processor 3000+
- 2.00 GHz, 1.00 GB of ram
- NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200
- Sound Max Audio

That should be about all you need, if you want something more just ask.

I think I might get the 7800 GT. 500-600 is alittle much for this college student.

Traken - July 27, 2005 03:56 AM (GMT)
Okay....wtf are you talking about making it faster? Damn... I guess you could put in a better processor...but other than that there's not much ('cept video card 'cause FX's suck balls). Perhaps you could throw some extra cooling in it and overclock it.

Xenophon - July 27, 2005 04:44 AM (GMT)
Your right FX does suck. I wish I knew that I when I bought my computer.

As for cooling I have two fans in this beast, what do you suggest I should add to it?

As for overclocking, what is the downsides to doing this, and also how do you overclock it?
