Title: Savage
Description: Free game

Traken - July 8, 2005 03:04 AM (GMT)
I saw a game called Savage on the RV forums and decided to give it a try. Apparently the company stopped supporting it so they took down the Auth server and are giving a DL for the full version. All of it is free. Seems pretty good so far.

DL: http://downloads.s2games.com/online_orders...age_windows.zip
Patch: http://analogue.free.fr/savage/Savage_200e_Full_Patch.exe

Expansions (required; can still play on normal servers):

D/Ling it all now and will tell you what I think.

Well, it's fun to run around in. <_<

Had no idea what I was doing since there is no tutorial, faq, or anything that I can find. As far as I can see, there are 2 sides, humans and beasts. You can Command and build buildings and order people around. Or, you can be a grunt and fight it out. I can't figure out what any of the buildings do because the tooltips are broken. The only way to get weapons is to kill things. I have yet to figure out how to get magic, siege weapons, mines, etc. The people are very...distant and don't talk at all.

So that was about a 30 minute waste of bandwidth.

Oh, the whole game is online. Think of it as a CS/WC breed.

Lol, SO you wouldnt recomend it?

Not unless anyone finds out how the hell to play it.

<_<

Okay, I did find out where a FAQ is (http://www.s2games.com/savage/index.php?page=savageindex) yet i still can't figure out how to DO anything...

NulliSecundus - July 8, 2005 04:17 AM (GMT)
I'll download it and see if I can figure out anything.

Edit: 200+ mb?, fuck that, I think I'll just stick with my current game.

Hehe, took me 3 minutes to DL the game.

It's actually pretty fun now that I found some people who actually helped.

I never played it personally, and its like 3 years old, but back in its day I heard a lot of really good things. I might play it at work some if the work PCs can handle it.

Is there any type of mount system?

Traken - July 11, 2005 09:24 PM (GMT)
Well, you can "mount" a ballista and catapault. ^_^

If this is the game I think it is it was a lot of fun. I played in for a while on tyhe free demo. I loved it i recomend it.

Yeah, there are a couple problems though. A lot of people can be outright asses to noobs. I know this isn't game specific, but I got impeached as commander three times when I ASKED if I could comm as a noob. <_<

Then you have the occasional hackers, but they aren't too bad. (Not saying I condone hacking...just that I don't really notice one person owning me from another)

Well having a shity commander can easily loose you a match. It is very important to get shit moving in the beginning. Plus if the enemy gets the good weapons before you you can be really screwed.

Jolius - July 12, 2005 07:44 PM (GMT)
I can't seem to get it to work, when I start up the game it asks for the CD key. Do you know how to get around this Traken. Thanks in advance.

Traken - July 12, 2005 08:07 PM (GMT)
Oh, I think you have to install both the expansions and after that it'll stop asking. I guess they are required...

Jolius - July 12, 2005 09:18 PM (GMT)
Ah, it worked. I haven't played with beasts in the game before. My team got competely trashed.

I downloaded and installed the game today, played against because I couldn't find any other online games and got to know how to play the game. It was very easy getting the hang of it, but the problem was that is was a 1 vs 1 battle, and you can't be in RTS and FPS mode at the same time of course :P

The game's tons of fun, especially when you're a Behemoth in the Beast Horde. Those guys pack quite some punch :D

What I propose is that we all download the game and play it together, as far as possible with the different timezones. Should give us the opportunity to train as a team before Roma Victor hits the stores, since teamplay is a must in both games. Also, Xeno/Bthizle/Me/someone else could practice our commander skills in the RTS mode upon dealing with real players.

How's that?
