Title: Mount & Blade
Description: Waiting for RV...
zelda12 - May 25, 2005 08:00 PM (GMT)
This game is in a word, astounding. Its an amazingly well though out and executed game that is made by a husband and wife team. Its absolutely amazing, you will find yourself becoming immersed in it to such a degree that you'll play 5 hours staight and only notice when you see the sun rising. Believe me. :D
http://www.taleworlds.com/index.htmlThe download is only 30 mb's and there are links to reviews on the site.

Me and Mordhak bought it a while ago... It is astounding. I don't know any other Medieval RPG with this good graphics, gameplay, possibilities, and a lot more.
NulliSecundus - May 26, 2005 11:14 AM (GMT)
It looks cool, but the level 6 limit is a turn off.
zelda12 - May 26, 2005 11:25 AM (GMT)
Only $12 to get that to go, and considering how cheap that is for such a good game...
NulliSecundus - May 26, 2005 11:31 AM (GMT)
True, but considering how cheap I am.
zelda12 - May 26, 2005 12:12 PM (GMT)
Oh well then, if you play it you'll be hooked enough to mug old ladies to get it! (Not that I'm advocating muggin old ladies.)
Honduras - May 26, 2005 01:38 PM (GMT)
Nobody want to share some lisence info with us?
Anyway, gonna try it out this weekend.
Mordhak - May 26, 2005 02:28 PM (GMT)
As Lhorkan stated, we bought it and I confirm that the game is frickin' awesome :cheer
It's very addicting though; I found myself playing it a whole day straight after having bought the full version. The combat is extremely entertaining and the best I ever came across in a medieval game.
The game can actually be compared to a medieval "FPS" (not that there are guns... there is horse archery though, and it's sweet. You can also throw throwing weapons like throwing axes, daggers, knives, javelins etc.).
Honduras - May 26, 2005 04:00 PM (GMT)
oh, c'mon, just a little serial key.... :(
NulliSecundus - May 27, 2005 06:35 AM (GMT)
Just pass it under the table ;)
Kaso - May 27, 2005 09:07 PM (GMT)
I'm addicted to Mount&Blade now. I've got myself a near unstoppable horse archer/cavalryman. AS a matter of fact, I'm gonna go play now.
NulliSecundus - May 28, 2005 01:05 AM (GMT)
Lhorkan - May 28, 2005 04:35 AM (GMT)
Doing a lot of tournaments is also great fun. :)

Honduras - May 28, 2005 03:28 PM (GMT)
I'm getting quite good with a lance on horseback. :D
Now only to get enough money for Black knight armor, heheh. B)
zelda12 - May 28, 2005 03:32 PM (GMT)
I am master of the double handed war axe! On horse I can decimate entire groups, all I need now is my Spirited Charger and I'll be unstoppable!
And my parties coming along nicely, lots of Swabian crossbowmen. :D
Honduras - May 28, 2005 03:46 PM (GMT)
I use a lot of Vaegir horsemen and knights. They can do a lot of damage. I kinda got those when my Sadians got decimated once. Sole survivor, stripped of a lot of gold and food.
Poor fellow I was. :P
zelda12 - May 28, 2005 03:50 PM (GMT)
I'd like to see any Knights get to even reach 25 Swadian Crossbowmen, close to getting marksmen or whatever they're called. :D
The Red Baron - May 28, 2005 04:17 PM (GMT)
Try running it on a 32 meg graphics card and you know how I feel.
Kaso - May 28, 2005 04:53 PM (GMT)
Is the combat in Mount&Blade like RV's combat? I hope so because I'm getting damn good at this game. :kaso:
Lhorkan - May 28, 2005 06:18 PM (GMT)
Try to get a party with 20 Sword Sisters. I'm busy achieving that (got 16 or so now). ;)
Looks like you all got addicted a little. Honduras, do you know how to do couched lance damage? (suppose so :P)
The Red Baron - May 28, 2005 06:44 PM (GMT)
Noob Question: how do you talk?
Kaso - May 28, 2005 07:47 PM (GMT)
To do couched lance you have to be on a horse with at least 9 speed, get moving fast enough for your guy to lower his lance, and aim the lance at the enemy when you ride by.
You press F when you walk up to someone to talk to them.

Indeed, I reall am annoyed I lost my hunter in a battle. Now I'm just a foot grunt which is most vexing.

Your hunter doesn't die...
zelda12 - May 28, 2005 08:14 PM (GMT)
It does when I get my butt kicked by a group of twenty Dark Knights.
Kaso - May 28, 2005 09:14 PM (GMT)
First horses go lame and if they are taken down after that they can die.

Your horses will heal if you keep them long enough in your inventory. But they do lose their extra's, like spirited and heavy,...
And the loose of your horse is only temporary, indeed. Even when your horse is cut down, and you over to the next "round" (in somewhat larger battles), your horse is up and ready (:P) again.
But I suppose all you fellow M&B addicts already knew that.
zelda12 - May 29, 2005 10:17 AM (GMT)
;) Yeah my problem comes when I've got a party of 20 peasants ans I get waylayed by some Black Knights...cue losing my horse. Funny thing was the Borsche and Marnid kept there's... <_< On the upside Those Swadian Sharpshooters are deadly. I went up against the knights a few weeks layer with my Swadian infantry band and the bastards were going down like nine pins. I like throwing axes. :D

Nothing beats the sight of a dead vaegir knight with 4 axes sticking out of his guts :D
Honduras - May 29, 2005 11:38 AM (GMT)
Haha, now I have a beter horse I'm oh so deadly with the lance. I can kill 3 enemies on one pass, lol. (if I'm lucky with the aiming)
I'm also now using the Swadians, while retaining the 5 vaegir knights I have.
I wonder what unit does evolve in Swadian knights?
zelda12 - May 29, 2005 11:40 AM (GMT)
You have to upgrade to Swadian Men At arms after the choice between infantry and Skirmishers.
Honduras - May 29, 2005 11:45 AM (GMT)
Right now I have Swadian Mercenaries, I hoipe they get men at arms at a point then.

Oh, there is something that does beat that. The sight of a Swadian knight with 4 axes sticking out of his guts. :D

What I meant was if a horse goes down it can go lame and if you fight again with it and it goes down again it can die.
Mordhak - May 29, 2005 07:05 PM (GMT)
Kaso's right. The horses simply disappear then :(
Lhorkan - May 29, 2005 07:16 PM (GMT)
Oh. Didn't know that. Well, my spirited warhorse (can't find a charger) doesn't get struck anyway. :P
zelda12 - May 29, 2005 07:17 PM (GMT)
I'm at level 20 and rising and have me a nice little war band of 37 Vaegir and Swadian Knights with 1 black knight. I'm currently fighting on the Swadian side. :D
Lhorkan - May 29, 2005 07:21 PM (GMT)
What? You're level 20 already? I'm level 26, and have the game longer than you. <_< I'm sergeant-knight with the Vaegirs though. :D
Even our knights are humbled by your victories, Lhorkan. They shout your name in song and chant as they march, and the bards are competing to se who can consort the most clever rhyme. You are promoted to sergeant-knight, with a wage of 300 denars per week.
Well I guess that's it for now Lhorkan. (this sentence ruins the whole emphasis :smash )
zelda12 - May 29, 2005 07:41 PM (GMT)
I been playing it alot, I'm on day 125 I think.
