Skills
This thread is all about the many skills your character can learn. Skills are nessesary because not everyone will know everything about everything. Following so far? Here's a run down,
Each skill has a name, right after the name is the stat that will influence this skill the most. That is, if you have 0 ranks in bluff, that doesn't mean you cannot lie, it just means you wont lie very well. Your Intelligence will determine how well you can lie without the skill, and even with ranks the higher intelligence you have, you get a little bit more of a bonus. You then have the description. Every skill will have an initial price, this is how much training points you must pay in order to learn rank 1 of the skill. Next to this is the increment of training points to learn the next level.
So for this example, bluff's initial price is 35 training points, since it has a 5 training point increment, to buy rank 2 of bluff you will have to spend 40 training points (35 + 5 = 40), to buy rank 3 you will have to spend 45 training points (40 + 5 = 45). Note, this stacks, so to go from rank 1 to rank 3, it would cost 85 training points (40 + 45 = 85).
-Bluff: (Int) Become better at telling fibs [35] <5>
Comparison To put it in perspective, 3 ranks in any skill is average, for instance with the bluff skill, when you reach rank 3 you are able to fool most common people that you talk to. Then you reach rank 6 you are gifted in that skill, you can bluff very intelligent people, and rank 9 is typically adept, it's very hard to know when your character is lieing. Some skills will vary
Specialization Only for advanced users. Some skills at a certain level are able to go into specializations, which are typically in different fields. The Skill Specializations are in the Advanced Rules.
