Title: Veritaius
Description: An Advanced Medieval Fantasy RPG

Heather - April 24, 2007 02:49 PM (GMT)

Have you read the Kushel Legacy series by Jacqueline Carey?

The Black Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop? Or the Tortall books by Tamora Pierce?

Or do you love medieval-based fantasy lands?

Veritaius is an original RPG inspired by the three authors named above. You will find politics, magic, and plots as the Court erupts in chaos. The King is dying, which would normally not be a problem... however, there is no heir. The King's only daughter died (or killed, or murdered... no one's sure) 10 years ago. Of Course, the King was not foolish enough to not select a heir; he named one in his Will. Funnily enough that Will has now disappeared, hence the chaos.

Plot

The Kingdom of Veritaius is one of the strongest in Talicia, with several Provinces around it accepting King Harold as their ruler. Despite the controversial changes the King made during his reign, Harold managed to unify the Provinces into a strong Court. Veritaius is seen with awe and jealousy by other Kingdoms in Talicia.

King Harold is not a young man any more, and now at the age of 66 he has been struck down by an illness his body may not recover from. Too weak to rule, the King appointed an Advisor to oversee the ruling of the Kingdom for him. As time passes a new Ruler is needed, and this is proving problematic. The King's will, which declared who the new ruler would be, has gone missing. Frustration and ambitions are growing, making the Court of Veritaius a dangerous place to be.

It used to be much simpler. The King had a daughter, Elisabetha. It was Elisabetha that was responsible for some of the controversial changes during Harold's reign. His love for his daughter helped him to make the decision that women were equal to men. They could own land, they could rule a Province and they could become warriors. It is rumoured that Elisabetha's death was no accident, that too many Nobles grew angry with the changes the King was making. It is also rumoured that she wanted her father to change the slave trade, if not completely abolish it. Even the truth about how she died has become confused over the years.

With the King dying and his will missing, many are playing the political game for personal gain. Some are ambitious enough to aim for the throne while others are making connections, keeping themselves safe and trying to stop an enemy from reaching the throne. It has become a dangerous Court to be in, with so many innocent people being caught up in the games of others.

Who will you be? Which side will you choose? Will you get a choice? Only time will tell.

OOC:

Despite being inspired by authors such as Jacqueline Carey, Tamora Pierce and Anne Bishop, Veritaius is most definetly an original RPG. I have blended my original thoughts with elements of their work, so fans of these authors may notice some similarities.

Characters are split into groups called Castes. The accepted Castes are: Nobles, Priests, Warriors, Mages, Healers, Peasants and Slaves. The order of this list is their political rank in society, with Nobles at the top and slaves at the bottom. For more Information about Castes see this page

Player comunication and interaction is an important part of this RPG, and at the moment we need people to fill up the RPG in each Caste.

We also have a lot of characters requested by other players, mainly family members, so if you're the sort of person who likes to jump into a plot then please take a look at them here

Finally, we need a King's Advisor; please see the website for more details. [The 'places open' page].
