The Treaty that has for so long kept the peace between the Realm of Jarenne and the Empire of Xaris is breaking down. The Empire, having finally assimilated every land in the East, has grown bold and at long last turned West; its intentions are blatant.

Xarian raiding parties have been wreaking havoc along Jarenne’s eastern borders, and some naval captains and merchant ships have claimed to have sighted ships belonging to the Xarian Navy. And this has sparked a rumor that has set fear in the hearts of many: where are the ships putting into port? Not in Jarenne, for no Xarian ship has docked at a Jarennian port for nearly six months. The rumor involves the Long Archipelago, and the idea has occurred to many that the Empire is recruiting magic users with the intent to use their power against the Realm. It is a frightening prospect.

However, as of yet, the Neutral Territory that houses the two schools has not been harassed, but whether that is because some of their people are there or for some other, unknown, reason, it cannot last. Of course, tensions are running high at both schools, factions are forming, and opinions are being solidified. The diverse nature of the schools has been turned against them in these turbulent times.

And the question remains: Will the Empire attack? And if so…will they win?
