Please note that failure to comply to these rules, will result in suspension, depending on the degree and how well it is handled. Hopefully, we won't ever have to come to that. Most of these are pretty basic for any roleplay forum.
OOC
1. No Netspeak: Out of all the things on web-life, netspeak ranks high in very annoying. Don't do it. This also includes smilies, and emotes (the smiles done with the letters and numbers). Feel free to play with the colors. The only thing that is slightly acceptable (of which is netspeak) is 'lol'. But please, even that can get annoying, which leads into the next rule.
2. No Spamming: Typing one word in a post constitutes as spamming, in this book. If you accidentally double posted, just edit it asking for deletion; Invisionfree can be screwy at times, so I understand completely if a post gets doubled.
3. Be Nice: To add a bit more this will be the reason why discussions on politics and any rants (whether here or in real life) are not allowed to be created. In an even further addition, it would be good to keep in mind that this is a roleplaying forum, not a socializing blog. Although it is understandable that getting to know the other members has its pro's, as well as some not-so-nice cons.
4. Problems: Life isn't a utopia, and its a natural thing to meet people you don't like in life (hence why it should be remembered this is a roleplaying site, not a socializing site). If you've a problem with someone, please discuss it with the Administrator. Put it on her (or his) shoulders to solve out.
5. Be Helpful, and Communicate: If you've a question, ask it. Any member who has an idea how things are runned, are more then welcome to beat a staff member to the answer! The only place, however, that any help will be denied is in the acceptance/modifying of characters.
5a. The only time a regular member is allowed to post in anothers application if it is for character relation purposes.
5b. That includes corrections on my grammar and spelling that I might have skimmed over, or Word didn't catch.
6. Character Development: How you wish to present your character, in the character development forum, is entirely up to you. It is perhaps the only place where I will allow fun with symbols, colors, etc. Knock yourselves out. By the way, here's one code; scallywag. Yes, this rule was typed out just so I can hide that. Kekeke.
6a. It is expected to atleast of read one of the Tortall series, all of them, even.
7. Graphics and Signatures: Not to big, not obscene, and be related to your character. And by 'not to big', I mean it stretching the board. If a staff member believes this rule is being violated, they have every right to take it down, PMing for a different one.
IC
1. The Basics: This includes, and not limited to: no godmoding, no netspeak, no one-liners (to be discussed further), no double posting, no bumping, and keep it on a low for OOC speak (which should be seperated by brackets). Nothing more needs to be discussed.
2. Posting: It is preferred at least five - six sentences of action per post, with as many chattering that you like. It is absolutely all right if you don't have any idea of how to respond. If you've been having this problem for awhile, perhaps a break is all you need; a chance to revive your inner muse. Go right ahead and post so in the absence notices! Another thing to note, is that I know not everyone has an English Major, people make mistakes, but feel free to edit them if you see them! This is getting to be long, but before your attention is lost on the next rule, I ask that this code be placed as well; splooge.
2a. You are not allowed to post anywhere in the roleplaying section of the board until you're character has been accepted. Otherwise, you can post elsewhere.
3. Limitations: If you fail to post within three weeks for your character, it will become inactive. Afterwards, a steady posting of about a week will allow your character to gain its activity level. If no hide or skin is seen after an additional two months, the character will automatically retire. Talking to the Admin is the only way to gain the character back.
3a. In short, don't let your characters gather dust! If you realize you are running short of ideas, simply drop the character.
4. Posting Orders: No, it is not required to post in a specific order, but please, don't go overboard when posting. A sort of 'No Character Left Behind' deal. Such as, if Moe, Curly, and Larry are in a thread, and only Moe and Larry are going back and forth, some one take the initiative to step back and give Curly a chance to speak.
5. Rating: This board will be rated a strict T for Teen, mostly for any violence (well, we'll see), and for any "bad morals" such as stealing. As for intercourse - please don't roleplay it! Just put a post with a big {Black Out} or {Fade Out}. Otherwise they will be deleted, with those manually put there. Make it easy for the staff, just don't post it. Any "making-out" is allowed to be posted, just know when to stop. Please? And so I know you read this; bunny.
5a. The only time I might allow a sex scene, is if it is for plot, or character development. Put even then.... Please don't feel graphic.
On Inactivity (Rule 3 Expansion)
How it Works
The admin is constantly scanning the board, seeing which character has been posting, and which hasn't. If I see a character that hasn't been posted with within three weeks, it goes into the "Inactivity" member's group and into the specified Roster area. The only way to avoid this is via contact me last minute or before hand via PM's, or the Introductions and Absent forum. A Private Message is sent to notify you when your character is moved to that area -- hence why I require email verification, for the board will send you an email to let you know you have a PM.
If a character has been "chilling" or "hanging" out in the activity forum for about two months with no sign of roleplaying (meaning, logging in and out of your character doesn't work -- sorry, but no; that prooves nothing other than you had enough time to log in and out), your character will be moved to the Archives, in the Abandoned Character thread. If I still see no sign of roleplaying or notes or hear of no contact in a month of being there, your account for that character will be deleted.
Abandoned applications have about three months before they go through the same fate.
Pet Peeves
This is more for information then actual guidelines. And as a warning as well, and pardon the rudeness.
I have to admit, I have a lot of patience for a lot of things, but I really can't stand, are what I like to call 'Ghosts'. Basically, those are the people that come, make an account for a day, then basically fall off the face of the earth. Or, even those that leave unfinished applications and never appear again, or those that make a character, then disappear, or make a character, roleplay for awhile, then disappear again.
No offense, but incase you haven't realized, I am trying to get a roleplay site started; if you're going to do that, or see yourself doing that -- then don't bother. If its because of time, then wait. If its just because you don't feel like it anymore, then drop me a note; I won't get offended. Can't find the site again? Most internet browsers have a history and favorite site section. I have a button at the top
And I do not want the excuse 'No one's roleplaying with me'. Well, there are five active members when I'm writing this; have some patience. If you must, advertise your thread in the Loose End's board. It is there for a reason. Inform others of any plot ideas for your characters, and recruit people to come along and help. Its what it's there for; I can't stress that enough. Failure to use it will result in Inactivity.
As always,
Have A Nice Day =)
