Creation
1. Accounts: One account per character, is most preferable. Just to keep things organized.
1a. And you must have an account and approved character before you are allowed to roleplay!
2. Amount of Characters: Everyone is allowed to have at least six characters -- NPC's being sort of like, extra credit. So if you already have six original characters, you are not allowed to make anymore but more then welcome to a canon character. *The number allowed is liable to change*
2a. For now, everyone is allowed only two of the canon characters.
2b. Right now, I am only allowing three Caerians, and they are: Ithilyia, Kora, and Kallista.
3. Character Titles: You are only allowed one character for each position in the realm. For example, no one is allowed to have two pages, or even a page and a knight. But, you are allowed to have a page, and a noble University Student. If you are confused, simply ask the question away!
3a. The need to explain as to why is felt: this is to prevent any self-roleplay, or anyone feeling left out. That's simple, innit?
4. Applying: Please, follow the rules set up in the applying section of the board. You must have either the administrator's approvel, or the two moderator's approval/review, or a combination, before it is moved, in which you can start roleplaying. Applications must stay on the registration area for at least a day, incase there are mixed views. A check and balance deal.
5. Mary-Sue's and Gary-Sue's: Please, please, please, try to stay away from doing this! This is a character who is perfect to the core, or tragic to the core. They're the ones that ruin good moments, the one with the most powerful gift. Any application like this, will be denied. Well-rounded characters are your best bet; if you are still confused, don't be afraid to ask, as these devilish characters can be explained further.
5s. Mary-Sue's/Gary-Sue's also include anyone character that is directly based off another character from an entirely different media. Such as someone applying with an X-Men character, or Ash from Pokemon. Please, no. Names from other book characters are not okay either, especially if they are a main character. However, you are more then welcome to use any character from a show or movie and base them around him as long as your own artistic freedom is given. Such as creating a character with a similar (but not exact) personality and/or looks as Jack Sparrow. Savvy? This is because I am only disclaiming that I do not own Tamora Pierce's world, or her (now dead) characters.
6. Flaws: In alignment with the whole Mary-Sue, the topic of flaws deserves a different number. There has to be a flaw in both the personality and appearance. Personality flaws don't always have to be a disorder, and not all physical flaws are scars (for its probable for someone to find them actractive), unless it actually does something to them.
7. Magic: So, there is the Sight, Wild Magic, and the Gift. To be honest, I'm not all that fond of it (after all, you might not be roleplaying a lot with it), but it will only be included if it is proven it can be handled correctly and explained thoroughly in the application. Any strong types of these magics will be asked to be taken out or put to a lesser degree. Another code you must know is; flabbergast.
8. Canon Characters: If you wish to play one of them, things must be talked out with the administrator.
8a. Please note that some of the Canon Characters, from the books, might be dead, as it is the year 496 H.E. And many, mind, are very old now.
9. Pets and Animals: No, you are not allowed to have an entire roleplay application dedicated to an animal, but rather as an NPC. And keep the pet's realistic; no bears, kraken, platypus', elephants, sharks, or any other untamable (or immortal) wild animal.
Titles
Page: Must be of noble status, entrants allowed at any age above their 10th fall, and takes place for four years of their life. There will be a limit of 6 girl pages, for now, just because being a Lady Knight is not very highly thought of yet.
Squire: After one graduates from their pagedom, there are taken under the wing of a knight for another four years. For the moment, only a total of 4 girl squires is allowed.
Knight: Following squiredom, is knighthood, which is only acheived after one has made it through four years under a knight. On the comming of their fifth winter as a squire (to ensure they're eighteen), at which they will be either approved or denied the right to a sheild via the Chamber of the Ordeal. Afterwards, they make up the bulk of an army. Many join the King's Own, or go errant.
King's Own: A group mixed with knight's, Bazhir, and sons of merchants, set up in groups, who do similar work to that of a Queen's Rider's except they are slower. There are about 300 men, and most have servants. Another requirement is that they must be unmarried.
The Commander in Cheif is the King of Tortall.
Palace Gaurd/Soldiers: These are the men, almost always Commoners (nobles rare), who are in charge of protecting the Palace and its occupants. Most important are the Royal Majesties, and it is considered an honor among them to be stationed near the royals.
---
Trainee: The character must be fifeteen or older, both male and female, noble and commoners, to be a trainee. They spend two years here, under Nora Skei, before they are deemed ready to become a Queen's Rider.
Queen's Rider: After two years of being a trainee, one graduates to become a Rider. The Rider's are a lot like border patrol, mixed with being first responders. There are twenty groups of Riders, each well balanced. It is the First and Second and Third groups whose response is solely on the city. They, like the King's Own, must also be unmarried. Rider's also help teach villagers how to protect themselves.
The Commander in Cheif is the Queen of Tortall
---
Rogue: The Rogue is a collection of theifs, kidnappers, assassains, spies, conartist's, etc., who answer to their King. The position of the King of the Rogue can be over thrown by a duel or a simple passing on the title. They make their station at the Dancing Dove. However, some in a similar profession fly solo rather then affiliating with the Rogue.
Provost's Gaurd: It is the Provost who is in charge of keeping peace in the city of Corus, to solve murder's, invesitigate crime, and stop crime. They are equivelant to the modern day police force, stations located throughout the city. Criminal's are taken to the Magistrate when caught. There are four watches: Day Watch, Evening Watch, Night Watch, and Fourth Watch.
Spy: The ears of the Realm, they relay information to the Spymaster, using the information to their advantage. The Sight tends to work best with those who wish to Spy.
---
Commoner: They are the most versatile, and range from all types of jobs. They could be apprentices or master's of their craft, owners of inns or performers, employee's or head's of guilds, servants or sinners. Depending on their job and money automatically decides on whether they are at the bottom of the social heirachy, or the top.
Priest(ess): These are the servants to the god's, in charge of keeping the Temple's presentable, running services, and protecting the needy. Once they take their vows, there isn't any going back, and it is similar to that of becoming a monk. The only difference is that they are allowed to venture outside the District, but most do not. They also have their own set of gaurds to gaurd the temples. Many Mithran priestes are teachers as well for the pages, or at the University.
University Student: Characters must be fourteen or older to apply to the University, and have the money. Those with the Gift, who have no interest in being a trainee, priestess, or Knight, have the best bet of controlling their magic by going to the University of Corus. After they graduate, the amount of years spent here depends on the course of study, they have several options. Most of the time, it deals with what they studied.
Ambassador: The head of the embassy of a country, normally nobles, who are in charge of negotiating with other nations, whether it be trade or peace treaties, and seeing that they're country gets the best interest. They are in charge of the official documents, writing them up, signing, etc.
Diplomat: They are the negotiaters, lead under the Ambassador, who help him out, in a way. Several heads are better then one, and in tricky conversations the better.
Scholar: These are the University Graduate's who find themselves writing research papers, or teaching, or traveling the realms for new information.
Mage: There are thousands of options possible with being a mage. Some deal with healing, battle, defense, a specific element, a concept; there are endless options as well as random jobs. One with a specialty in healing could always go be a priestess or work up at the Palace. Or one for defense could work under the King or a lord.

Shang: Shang are wisked away at a young age, around five or six, to a temple, to learn the ways of martial arts. It is Yamani-based fighting, the main institute set up in Maren, but there are other schools. Once they are eighteen, they are given a name of an animal that represents there style of fighting. Not many are named after immortals, but rather simple animals like panthers, ears, etc. No one can become a shang if they have the gift, and it is open to both men and woman across the land. After a Shang graduates, they usually wander the lands, most remaing unmarried.
Noblewoman: All noble families with conservative values would require their daughter to attend the convent at age 10, to learn how to be a Lady. They leave at around age 18, when the pursuit of husband is then sought after, perferrably to another noble. They do a lot at the convent, such as learning how to do sums, defend a fief, dance, proper etiquette, and other Lady things.
Nobles: Most nobles are either retiree's or those who were not interested in doing anything in their life, or they are waiting for the chance to jump in. While they wait, whether for death or their dream to start, they just loom about. Not a very exciting bunch.
Ladies In Waiting: These are a handful of chosen woman by the Queen to accompany her. Ever since Thayet became Queen, it's been a tradition for these woman not to only look pretty but learn how to keep up with the Queen with there was trouble.
