Title: OMG!
Description: Chris Matthews just complimented Gore

JamesAquila - May 13, 2008 09:42 PM (GMT)
He said that Gore bowed out in 2000 with grace.

If only Matthews and his buddies had been that fair to Gore 8 years ago.

Will wonders ever cease? :!:

Yeah, if they'd been fair back then, maybe we'd be enjoying the best 8 years of our lives with President Gore. :spikey:

Great night for Hillary = great night for Al Gore.

Hillary is on track to win West Virginia by 40 points plus!

The turnout was strong.

On May 31 the Democratic Party committee decides what to do with Florida and Michigan. Hillary has the numbers on that committee - so come 1 June Florida and Michigan will be included in the delegates and the popular vote tallies. Obama will still have a small delegate lead but Hillary will have won the popular vote courtesy of Peurto Rico.

At that point Obama will have to decide whether or not to appeal the decision on Florida and Michigan. At point he should step aside for the good of the party and be Gore's running mate.

All the talking heads say that it is a mathematical impossibility for Hillary to pull this off. Can someone give me good reason to believe otherwise?

That's true but it is only one side of the story. It is also impossible for Obama to get to 2024 with pledged delegates alone. Both will need the Supers to make it to the magic number. If Florida and Michigan are seated then the bar is raised to 2209. Again neither Clinton or Obama can get to the magic number without the Supers.

But the super-d's seem to be signing on rather rapidly at this point.

My confidence in Gore running is dropping rapidly. This article below from Bloomberg says that we are now on, 'Al Gore Watch,' re an endorsement.

Edwards' Endorsement of Obama Starts Clock on `Al Gore Watch'

Gore, 60, who won the Nobel Prize and built a constituency by championing the fight against climate change since losing the election to George W. Bush, has so far stayed out of the battle between Obama and Clinton.

``The Al Gore watch starts now,'' said Ken Goldstein, a political science professor at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

Gore, who is one of the party's superdelegates, has indicated he won't give his endorsement until the primary contest is finished. His spokeswoman, Kalee Kreider, said yesterday that Gore had no further comment.

Obama said he has spoken to Gore ``periodically'' over the past several months about policies and ideas.

``I'm not really pushing for an endorsement,'' Obama told reporters on his plane last night as he flew to Chicago. ``I'd love to have it, but when you've won the Nobel Peace Prize, making an endorsement politically is maybe a step down.''

Al should definitely do what he has indicated he will do, namely stay above the fray, above it all, and NOT ENDORSE ANYONE during the primary contest. There is no need for him to upset 50% of the party by endorsing one or the other. Once we have a nominee, then of course, Al could come out and campaign for him or her. Until then: above, above, above: that's where Al is and that is where he should stay.

Matthews doesn't want to acknowledge these days his voting for Bush not only in 2000, but in 2004 as well... He's quietly trying to rewrite his own political past. He never liked Gore or Kerry. :bad: :bad: :bad:
