Hillary Clinton surrogate Ed Rendell praises Fox News

Great catch from Michael Calderone at the Politico:

Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, a strong supporter and prominent surrogate of the Hillary Clinton campaign, appeared on Fox News' morning show "Fox & Friends" today and praised the network for its "objective" and "balanced" coverage.

"I think during this entire primary coverage, starting in Iowa and up to the present, Fox has done the fairest job, has remained the most objective of all the cable networks," Rendell told host Steve Doocy. "You actually have done a very balanced job of reporting the news, and some of the other stations are just caught up with Senator Obama, who is a great guy, but Senator Obama can do no wrong, and Senator Clinton can do no right."

Doocy told Rendell, "I just had a tingling in my leg when you were talking about that," a reference to MSNBC host Chris Matthews, who has been criticized for unfairly treating Hillary Clinton and who once announced on air that he felt a "thrill going up his leg" during an Obama speech.

Watch:

Recently, "Fox & Friends" was the center of mayhem at the network, when an anchor walked off set over a dispute about Obama's comments on race and "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace railed against the network for what he called "two hours of Obama-bashing." "Fox & Friends" hosts later claimed the walk-off stunt was a joke, and Wallace admitted that he regretted speaking out against his network.

I'm beginning to wonder if Rev. Wright might be for Hillary.

singhtjunior - April 28, 2008 10:33 PM (GMT)
If Rev Wright gets hired by "Fox News," and gets paid few billion dollars, then he has sold his soul to the "other side" and is indeed working for Clintoons. If not, then he is just upset about the situation and wants to fight back ... as it would be expected from a former Marine. Looks to me it is going to be Semper Fi!

The problem is that his fighting back has the potential to hurt Obama. If he wanted to fight back he could have waited until after the election.

Gore will endorse the nominee, who at this point is likely to be Obama.

There is no better time to fight than NOW! That is something that marine knows. Let it be a lesson for all. Procrastination is a lame strategy. Obama has already said he has nothing to do with Rev Wright's views. That stands too. Rev Wright fights for his views. IF people can't see the difference, well, the tough luck. Obama should not interfere with Rev Wright's right to retaliate. Cintoons / Fox "news" did pre-emptive strike on him. He is doing what any tough guy would do. It is one man against the neo-con machine. I agree with Senator Obama, that Rev Wright's view of the world is skewed. However, it is much better than the one promoted by Fox "news" and the neo-con chicken-hawks. More power to him as he takes on Clintoons, Fox, and rest of the brain-dead viruses and bacterias that pollute our airways.

Yeah, tough luck for us all if it helps elect John McCain President. This election is too important to have it all thrown away to satisfy one man's bloated ego.

That is the way world works. As far as bloated ego is concerned, Ms Clinton has plenty to go around. We all have to deal with the consequences of our own and each others actions. If Senator McCain is indeed elected, blaming it on Rev Wright is as good as blaming the pink panther. None have anything to do with election. Rev Wright stands for himself and has right to do so. Senator McCain will be just a continuation of Bush administration for eight more years. Since Gore did not accept the draft, and since Obama despite winning primaries might not be the nominee, we will have eight years to thank the Clintons for their contribution of handing over the victory to the neo-cons. So why blame Rev Wright for defending his views -- however dumb they may be?

Texan for Gore - April 29, 2008 01:38 PM (GMT)
I agree that this is not the time for Rev. Wright to be speaking out. If he feels so strongly about it, why didn't he address it as soon as his sermons started showing up on youtube? Things had begun to die down and now, all of a sudden, he feels the need to defend himself and speak out? As a pastor, he should understand that his views will sometimes be controversial and expect others to be critical of him.

The more he speaks out, the longer he keeps the controversy front and center, and risks damaging Obama. Which should be more important to him? His ego or getting a Democrat in office?

I had begun to wonder if he weren't for Hillary too, but I thought I was letting my mind run wild again. :!:

singhtjunior - April 29, 2008 02:04 PM (GMT)
Rev Wright was silent for a while after the controversial videos showed up. Senator Obama gave eloquent speech on race-relations and that was expected to be the end of this storm in the tea pot. Rev Wright was silent all this time. However, neo-cons and Clintons did not want to put an end to it and kept bringing it up. Senator Obama distanced himself from Rev Wright, and rightfully so. Now what do you expect from Rev Wright? Keep taking a beating every day from the media until the election? Not good enough. He is a former marine his response is totally justified. He does not care about Obama, Clinton, Fox, or elections. His war on dogs will allow time for Senator Obama to continue to do his job. The elections will be stolen no matter what...there is no integrity in the system.

Rev. Wright can only hurt Obama with his statements at this point. He is hurting Obama's campaign. He could have waited until after the election to speak out, but doing so now only helps Hillary in the short term and McCain in the long term.

Not Speaking for Obama, Pastor Speaks for Himself, at Length

By ALESSANDRA STANLEY
Published: April 29, 2008

"But Mr. Wright’s monomania over the last three days has helped prove the point Mr. Obama made about his former pastor last month in his speech on race, in which he described Mr. Wright as “imperfect” but having also been “like family to me.” Mr. Wright revealed himself to be the compelling but slightly wacky uncle who unsettles strangers but really just craves attention."

Regardless of Rev. Wright speaking for himself, he is still keeping this controversy front and center and this will reflect negatively on Obama, whether that is Rev. Wright's intention or not. He is playing right into the hands of the media and the Repugs. He should have had his say right after the videos came out and let that be the end of it. Even now, as he speaks out, there will continue to be people who twists his every word, so what good is it really doing, other than hurting the Democrats' chances of winning.

I don't know. That is something I just don't understand, given their 20 year relationship. Surely he understands why Obama denounced what he said and had to distance himself from the controversy, given the stakes in this election.

When Bill Clinton needed a black Rev., he called on Rev. Wright to help bail him out after Monika

So they have a history

If only Bill resigned that weekend, Al Gore would be wrapping up 10 years as President now

I wonder who he would have picked back then as his VP? (as it would have been between terms, so he could have picked anyone basically).

Probably Gephardt Graham or Kerry I would think.
