Title: What happened to Gore's latest book?
Description: This is odd . . .

earthmother - March 31, 2008 10:05 PM (GMT)
A while ago, I looked up Gore's soon-to-be-released book on Amazon. It was called Solutions, and it was due out in April. I believe initially it was only being released in the UK, but it did show up on the American Amazon website. Someone asked me a question about it earlier, and I went to get the link for them, and there's no such book anymore, and nothing being released by Gore this year. What's listed instead is something called The Path to Survival, with a pub. date of March 2009--a whole year from now.

Odd . . .

Al Gore releases children's Book on climate change

New Delhi: Nobel Laureate and former US Vice-President Mr Al Gore on Saturday released two books -- Know Climate Change and 101 Q and A on Climate Change from 'Save Planet Earth Series' -- a six-book series jointly published by TERI Press and the JSW Foundation, at the India Habitat Centre here.

Also present were Dr R K Pachauri, Director-General, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), and Chairman, IPCC, along with Ms Sangita Jindal, Chairperson, JSW Foundation, who has been instrumental in the publishing of 'Save Planet Earth Series' books.

"It is Important that children understand the influence of human actions on the Earth's climate and the measures that can be taken to Control it. It is with this in view that the 'Save Planet Earth' Series is being published," said R.K. Pachauri, Director-General of TERI.

Terrapin, the children's imprint of TERI Press has published these books with the support of JSW Foundation. Lucid and age-appropriate, the text of each book is reviewed by a TERI expert in the field of environment. The theme of all these books is woven around TERI's mandate of energy, environment, and sustainable development.

Apart from Know Climate Change and 101 Q and A on Climate Change, the other titles in the series are - The Three Rs-Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, a guide on how to reduce, reuse, and recycle at school and at home; Conservation: How to Save a Planet - an exciting book on what can children do at home and school to conserve nature and natural resources; then would follow Clean Solutions for a Green Earth - an entertaining book that teaches children cool ways to stop global warming; and lastly, SOS for Earth - a title that reveals the most critically endangered plants and animals in the world, as well as places and cultures in danger due to climate change.

That's a very good question about a new book by Al Gore.

Six months ago it was supposed to be out in April 2008.

Gore's new book is called, 'The Path to Survival.' It is being released in three weeks from today - the same day as the Pennsylvania primary.

Gore released a book in May 2006 and May 2007. On both occasions Gore did a huge number of media interviews to promote the book. No doubt he will again starting in 3 weeks - just when everyone is reminded how deadlocked the Democratic race is because Hillary will almost certainly have cleaned-up in Penn. And just when the $300m ad buy is in full swing. I am certain that these interviews will include questions about whether he is going to come in as the saviour of the party.

Gore then goes to Israel for collect another award on 19 May. Shortly after there will be a joint ticket announced with Obama - of that I am certain.

This is the Wikipedia link and text for, 'The Path to Survival.'

Below is the press release about the Path to Survival. The reason why none us know much about it is because this announcement was made on the same day as the Nobel Peace Prize announcement and it obviously got buried in the tsunami of media relating to the Nobel win.

Gore is inevitable.

New York, NY, October 12, 2007 -- Rodale Books, publisher of An Inconvenient Truth, today congratulates former Vice President Al Gore for winning the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to spread awareness of man-made climate change and lay the foundations for counteracting it.

Rodale recently announced that it will publish Gore's The Path to Survival, and the book will pick up where An Inconvenient Truth left off, offering a visionary blueprint of the changes we should make as a world community in order to prevent the climate crisis from threatening the continued viability of human civilization, on both a large and small scale.

"We are all incredibly grateful that Al Gore has made it his mission to educate the world about global climate change. And we are very pleased that the Nobel Committee has recognized his achievements," said Rodale Chairman Maria Rodale. "All of us at Rodale are very proud that he chose Rodale as his publisher and look forward to continuing to help him communicate his message and find solutions."

"We are pleased that the Nobel Committee has acknowledged Al Gore for taking on his shoulders a stupendously important global issue and working tirelessly to bring this message into the national and international conversation," said Rodale President and CEO Steven Pleshette Murphy. "When we agreed to publish An Inconvenient Truth, we committed to his campaign to fight climate change, and publishing The Path to Survival is an important next step. We look forward to bringing all of Rodale's resources to bear in getting Mr. Gore's message out."

Leigh Haber, Vice President and Editorial Director of Rodale, said "Gore is one of our greatest visionaries, but his visionary thinking is, most of all, humanitarian in its thrust. He cares deeply for the world and for people. It is moving to know he has been recognized in this profound way for his courage, prescience, and generosity."

In the new book, Vice President Gore will present, explain, and prioritize the solutions to the planetary emergency of global warming, introducing the people, companies, technologies, scientists, and politicians at the cutting edge of designing, engineering, debating, and fighting for these solutions. He will explain how making bold choices now to protect our environment will also create new jobs, propel sustainable economic improvements, and inspire a new generation to tackle our most challenging issues with moral leadership. Part scientific manual, part expose and part visionary call for a new planet-wide political movement to save the future of humanity, The Path to Survival will appeal to the readers of An Inconvenient Truth who were motivated by the call to action in that book, and who are now ready to fight for the solutions that were considered politically impossible only a short time ago. The book will be published in May, 2008.

An Inconvenient Truth, also published by Rodale, was a #1 bestseller and has nearly 700,000 copies in print. The documentary film of the same name received an Oscar at the 2007 Academy Awards for Best Documentary feature. It is the third highest grossing documentary of all time. Al Gore's most recent book, The Assault on Reason, was published in May of this year and has also been a #1 bestseller.

Amazon must have a typo, then. It says it's not going to be released until 2009.

TN, the way you said that made me laugh. Sounds like Mammy from Gone Wind The Wind who I've been known to minick sometimes. She was one of my favorite characters.

I'll be sure to look for that book come August-Sept.
