Carville: Richardson Akin to Judas

The Hillary Clinton campaign and her supporters are not very happy with Bill Richardson's decision to back Barack Obama in the Presidential race. Clinton adviser James Carville was particularly angry at Richardson's decision to back Clinton's opponent.Bill Richardson

From the New York Times:

"An act of betrayal," said James Carville, an adviser to Mrs. Clinton and a friend of Mr. Clinton.

"Mr. Richardson's endorsement came right around the anniversary of the day when Judas sold out for 30 pieces of silver, so I think the timing is appropriate, if ironic," Mr. Carville said, referring to Holy Week.

Really? Judas? How ridiculous is that?

Look, Richardson believed Barack Obama was the better person for the job. He decided to back Barack Obama. It is a political decision. He wasn't betraying Clinton to the Romans to be crucified -- the analogy is not only ridiculous, but borderline offensive.

The Carville attack actually served to reinforce something that Richardson said in his endorsement of the Illinois Senator.

But potentially more troublesome for Mrs. Clinton was what Mr. Richardson said in announcing his decision. He criticized the tenor of Mrs. Clinton's campaign.

What Carville doesn't understand is that the sort of personal attack that he levied against Richardson is the thing Americans are tired of hearing. It is actually a major portion of Obama's campaign to reject the old way of doing politics. The politics of personal attacks. The politics of smear.

The politics of calling a politician "Judas" for preferring a different candidate.

It brings to mind something reported in a previous NY Times article that I wrote about a month ago.

Actually there was one voice-mail message that chafed. It came from a well-known Clinton loyalist, whom Mr. Richardson will not identify except by sex.

"She really ticked me off," he said. Her tone and words suggested that he owed Mrs. Clinton his endorsement. Mr. Richardson complained to Mr. Clinton during their phone conversation on Tuesday, and the former president assured him that the woman was not speaking for the Clinton campaign.

The Clintons seemed to expect his support. They felt they deserved it because he was in Bill Clinton's cabinet in the 90s. I actually am more impressed by Richardson's support of Obama because of his work under Bill Clinton.

Of course, if he had endorsed before Super Tuesday or Texas, it would have been an even more impressive announcement... but that's a different post.

The Clinton's are worse than McCarthy ever was.

They just know no bounds.

Hillary is Judas to the Democratic party

She is going to be another Clinton enabler.
Bill enabled Bush43 to not be impeached
He swept everything under the rug in 1993
Hillary is trying to enable McCain(and in theory Jeb in the future)
And if HIllary steals it, she will be the enabler to the end of the US altogether what with the riots that shall occur, then Bush calling martial law, no elections at all, and who knows what other goodies lie ahead once everyone who is not a Bushie/Clintonite is arrested, jailed and removed/eradicated from this world

Shades of Soylent Green anyone? Will that solve the world food shortage?

Hillary, concede. It's over.
Good bye, so long, auf wiedersein farewell

Yeah, Richardson is called Judas and Bill Clinton implies his wife and McCain love America more than Obama.

(SIGH) What else is new in their campaign?

It's all very sad. These are actually people I admired. I admired the Clinton Administration (not as much as I admire Al, of course). I even missed Clinton's eloquence and occasional warmth in times of crisis compared to the people running the country these days.

Now they look like desparate opportunists, willing to do or say anything to win.

Very sad.

I wouldn't say the Clinton's are responsible for everything people associated with their campaign are saying. They're not. And I sure would not compare Senator Clinton to Judas, Bush, Cheney, or Joe McCarthy. Yet I have to say that I'm a bit shocked that so far Hillary has not said anything to distance herself from Carville's offensive remarks. I think the most appropriate thing for her to do would be to fire him from her campaign. Well, actually I think the most appropriate thing to do would be for her to withdraw from the nomination contest, endorse Barack Obama, and help Democrats win in November.

I love, love, love, love, LOVE James Carvel, but his "act of betrayal" comment was a tad over the top, if anyone asks me. Richardson can endorse anyone he feels is endorse-worthy (misguided as he might be!). Still, I love James Carvel and if he ever wants to leave his repug wife for a nice Democratic girl, I'm available!
