Title: Reality TV

If there's one thing that bugs me about today's tv other than the conservatives running the corporate media it's reality tv.
I get so sick of seeing these previews like dating shows,a wild cook going off contestants in the kitchen and so forth. Look at MTV and VH1 they use to show videos and music and now it's all reality shows someone at Viacom has to get a clue and put an end to this. Where's all the comedy shows and dramas and movies they use to show in the ole modern tv days.
Any solutions on how we can end this nightmare. :(

Watch Current TV instead. It's not a reality show. It's reality. ;)

I agree with you, ap215. I watch tv for entertainment. I am sick of shows like wife swap, fear factor, etc. Some may have a good theme, such as extreme makeover, but whatever happened to a good old fashion comedy or drama?

 Oh, good answer, TN, good answer!!!
"But if we offer more intelligent programming, the subjects, uh, the people will become smarter. Our control over them will weaken, and they may begin to think for themselves. Can we risk that sort of uprising?"

I despise those shows, I can't even stand to watch 'American Idol.' I actually like some of the older shows, but don't see much of them. If it weren't for sports and the news, which is usually bad, I would probably throw my TV in the river.

Well now I was hooked on Current TV for a while, but I have found too much repetition lately?
I simply fear for the oriental male that goes to the most dangerous places on earth, like the worst part of Pakistan! It also keeps me CURRENT, go figure?
The two main male hosts'; talk about hunks? One looks like he is from the royal bloodline in Europe and the other looks like Antonio Banderas's better looking younger brother.
If I had a digital video camera, the grandson and I would be making pods all about TN and I think as a Tagline end joke, I would close them all with a shot of Gore's home and ask, who lives here, it is a big Tennessee Mystery?
If I had that camera, I was going to make a video for Bon Jovi's "I love this town" contest where you show things from your town and the final shot would have been of a Prius with a bumper sticker that said----"BON JOVI IN 2008" then I would pan down the car as the driver opened the door and got out and turned around to reveal it was Al Gore
Then the next day, media everywhere would be saying Gore has made an endorsement in the race for 2008--(Media pigs).
I never watch them more than 5 minutes, but aren't most of those shows about what gross thing you can eat?
LOST, LOST, LOST, is driving me crazy!

You and me both, AGIMY. Guess I miss what I grew up with - the classic shows that my kids are enjoying now. I'd rather sit down and watch an old show than watch the junk they're showing nowadays.
Guess the reality shows are easy money for the producers.

Ahh Blueraider, I do have that camera. I thinkst that sometime in the next few months we should ice down a case of Ole' Milwaukee and hit the road with Am-Cam. (Amateur Camera that is.) There's no telling what we could come up with.
