I doubt I'm alone on this, but it sure makes me wish Al Gore would get into the mix POST HASTE!
All of the Democratic in-fighting and nastiness going on between the Obama and Clinton camps is beginning to become disheartening, at least for me. I know it's politics, I know it's expected in general elections, and I know it's not the first time in history, but inside the party during this critical election year, it really concerns me.
The majority of party members are split between the Clinton/Obama camps and the wedge issues that have been the source of a lot of "fightin' words" between them lately may cause bitter voters of the candidate who does not win the nomination to run to Nader...you know, cut off their nose to spite their face. We may as well roll out the red carpet for McCain come November :(
Unless.....
No, you're not alone at all. And welcome!
No doubt it's exactly all this in-fighting that Gore wanted to avoid by not running. It would be great if he'd get in as a third-party candidate, but I don't see it happening. The only way he'd do that is if he thought he wouldn't be splitting off votes from the Dem. nominee, thereby ensuring that McCain will win. The last thing Al Gore wants to be called is "spoiler."
If things get bad enough between Hillary and Obama, if the delegates truly end up split down the middle, and if the fighting between them gets worse, I suppose it's possible that the calls to get Gore to step in might get louder. And who knows, maybe he'd do it? I always think back to what he said in Denver last spring during the Assault on Reason tour: "Don't get me wrong. I'd LOVE to be president!"
Well, Mr. Gore, I believe it's yours for the taking. All you have to do is ask.
I'm worried at this point about Al Gore asking. Now, if things become so deadlocked that the Obama and Clinton teams ask him.. then well, that's different
Somehow I think Gore is going do something to help bring about unity. I just don't know now what that is :?:
