JUST MY OPINION:
But then I maybe wrong.

I too am very disappointed and hurt that Al Gore won’t be in the race, or in all possibility won’t be. I too have been waiting in baited breath for him to announce, but that announcement never came.

But I have not given my heart and soul too the cause as has earthmother who has dedicated her every waking minute to putting him on the ticket. No amount of praise can be offered that will do credit to her selfless efforts.

To Wayne who has proven a good friend and the perfect example of dignity. I can honestly say without any reserve that he is the peace maker. He has worked hard and deserves due credit. To algoreismylife and all the other monitors who have donated so much of their time to keep a high degree of civility to this site I thank you.

To all who have started groups, donated what little they could, posted readings and articles that help to educate us and offer a touch of humor, to all of you who have expressed a passion so few feel, know it could not have been done without your help and support.

Do not be upset. You have taken the time to do something when most chose the simple way of remaining ignorant. You may not have succeeded in getting Gore to run but you stepped up and once more felt the passion of a cause. Tell me, how long has it been since you have felt this commitment and deep love? And you have not failed. You have managed to bring important issues to the people. To me that’s 7 well spent years.

We feel let down by him for not at least announcing his decision not to run much earlier. And I know this hurts because of the time we have dedicated to this cause. But there is one question I can’t seem to find an answer to… What if he only now made his decision not to run, would we feel let down by all the time we waited and worked, if he just hadn’t made up his mind? He does have that right.

Few have given to his country in the admirable way he has. And ever fewer have done in 7 years what he has. His contributions as an American citizen is truly a blessing we should honor. (And this is not cult worship or blind love.)

Our next job should be to get a Democrat, hopefully Obama, in the White House and a democratically controlled Congress. Without this we cannot begin to correct the destruction done under Bush.

Thank you so much for all the kind words, Al, and make no mistake about it, they are much appreciated. But we need to all remember that every one of us, each in his or her own way, contributed to this effort in whatever capacity he or she was able to. I was fortunate enough to not have to work for money the last year or so, and I had the dedication, drive, and organizational skills to enable me to take the role that I did. Others didn't have the luxury of not having to work, and yet they took precious time they didn't have to form and attend groups, etc. Others contributed in other, less public wayss. You, for example, not only sent in contributions but also kept my spirits buoyed by your personal gifts, which I cherish enormously, as I do your friendship.

Just wanted to be sure all of us get the recognition we're due. ;)

Mmm, sitting here working on my photographs and grooving to one of my Xmas presents--a CD of one of the most incredible talents to ever come out of Texas . . . Janis Joplin. It's amazing how good all that music from the '60s still sounds.

Al001 :good:

I do also wish to thank you for those kindest of words. We all deserve a hand going into 2008.
