Spears' Manager Accused of Drugging Her

Tuesday, February 5, 2008 3:30 PM

LOS ANGELES -- A restraining against Britney Spears' sometimes manager Sam Lutfi accuses him of drugging her, taking over her home, life and finances, and cutting her phone lines.

Spears' father was granted control of her finances until Valentine's Day by a judge who also barred the troubled pop star from contacting Lutfi.

Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz also appointed a physician Monday to evaluate whether Spears, who is in a psychiatric ward, is competent to make decisions.

Her father, James Spears, and an attorney were granted conservatorship last week after the 26-year-old was hospitalized for the second time in two months following increasingly bizarre behavior.

The commissioner extended that conservatorship until Feb. 14. It allows Spears' father, and attorney Andrew Wallet, to make decisions involving the singer's assets and even who enters her home.

The commissioner also tried to further distance Spears from Lutfi, who sometimes spoke on her behalf and had been seen escorting her about town.

Spears was ordered to have no contact with him by phone, texting, or any other means.

The commissioner extended a restraining order against Lutfi that was issued last week, although court spokesman Allan Parachini said the original order had not yet been served.

In a Monday text message to The Associated Press, Lutfi said: "I have no problems with anyone writing anything negative against me. My image is not of concern, hers is."

A police motorcade helped shepherd Spears to UCLA Medical Center last Thursday for a 72-hour mental evaluation. She was originally to be released Sunday but doctors and a ward medical officer decided to keep her for two more weeks. They cited a state law that allows holding patients for treatment if they are found to be gravely disabled or a danger to themselves or others.

The question of Spears' competency came up again Monday as an attorney, Adam Streisand, unsuccessfully argued that the pop star told him by phone that she wanted her father removed as conservator.

"She has expressed to me very strongly (her wish) that her father not be the conservator," Streisand said. "There has been an estrangement for quite some time. With him as conservator, that is causing her more agitation and more distress."

Streisand, who placed Spears' estate assets at $40 million or more, also said he believed he had been authorized to represent Spears.

But court-appointed attorney Samuel Ingham said he interviewed Spears on Sunday at the hospital and determined she didn't understand the court proceedings, and "she lacks the capacity to retain counsel."

Attorney Vivian Thoreen, who represents Spears' father, said her client should continue to be conservator because "his daughter is in great distress."

"He's not here to take over her assets," Thoreen said. "He's here to get her medical help. He's here to take over while she's healing."

Al001...I really don't want to be offensive...but with the market doing somersaults, and McCaine ready to put his FINGER on the BIG RED BUTTON...the last thing I want to talk about are cover issues like what's happening to Britney Spears...or the latest on Paris Hilton...I'm NOT saying it isn't news...but when people are losing their homes and getting killed overseas, the last thing I want to talk about are spoiled celebrities and the piccadillos they get involved in...the media is doing THAT enough now already! :Y:

But maybe I am just getting tooo serious as of late...and breaking the tension is needed...but I get seriously tired of hearing about Hollywood Jetsetters and the crap they get involved in! Back in 1999 when Clinton was President...Britney Spears life was all peaches & cream...NOW look at the 'poor' thing!...That's what 8 years of BU$H will do to you! :dripple:

al001 - February 6, 2008 04:25 PM (GMT)
That's it Papa, just trying to break the tension a bit. A moment of the almost uncontolled anger I feel at what is going on and the media's lack of coverage.

Sorry if I insulted you by the post.

The Paraclete - February 6, 2008 07:23 PM (GMT)
You didn't insult me by the post...I am just wound really tight! That is all! Plus the fact, I actually DO feel sorry for Britney Spears as well...Like Princess Di...this child star celebrity is getting hounded into the ground...No offense to you or by you...it's just aggravating how the media fails to mention suicide bombings in Iraq and fills the vacuum with Britney Spears & Paris Hilton...

In an election year, and you don't even hear anything about Iraq...like BOTH parties want to brush it under the rug...Like they tried to do and were successful with in 2004... :wtf:

Another point...If Kerry had THREE PURPLE HEARTS in 2004...what made HIM less of a WAR hero than McCaine? Just because John spent 5 YEARS in the Hanoi Hilton when he could have went home?(The North Vietnamese offered to let him go)... :?:

It's hard for me to understand how this could be amusing
to anyone. She is having a terrible mental crisis right now.
I hope she is able to get better soon.

The Paraclete - February 6, 2008 07:44 PM (GMT)
That's just it, E...she needs to be left alone by the media...I am sure that they have BETTER things to do than report on her while BU$H continues to slither his way around the White House with a $3Trillion Dollar Budget...spittin VETO Venom from his mouth...

QUOTE (The Paraclete @ Feb 6 2008, 01:23 PM)

[b]Another point...If Kerry had THREE PURPLE HEARTS in 2004...what made HIM less of a WAR hero

We worked in small squads on swiftboats for a while. Our job was to hit the shore when we were attack and hunt out the enemy. We were never hit. They could hear us coming a mile a away.

But at night we would set up on shore and listen to the swiftboats head down river to their base. And that is when they would hit and with extreme force.

Kerry having three Purple Hearts is a true indication that he was wounded by enemy fire on three separate occasions. They don't just give those away regardless of what that twisted Swiftboat for truth pack said.

He has a Silver Star, only two medals rank higher in recognition of heroism.

He has earned all he has and is a hero.

The Paraclete - February 6, 2008 09:11 PM (GMT)
That's EXACTLY what I am getting at Al001...John Kerry got SHOT at and he wasn't GOOD ENOUGH!

John McCaine gets the ROYAL TREATMENT in Hanoi because Daddy was a military BIG WIG!...(that's what I heard)...and HE IS A HERO! :dripple:

In 2000...Dubya's sources said McCaine was treated fantastically while fellow prisoners got tortured...and Dubya & Rove also claimed that McCaine rolled over on fellow prisoners while in Hanoi! Now Rove & the Pretzel all but 'endorse' him? :?:

WHAT MAKES THE JOHN MCCAINE OF 2008 ANY DIFFERENT THAN THE MCCAINE OF 2000? :?:

ALGOREismylife - February 6, 2008 10:12 PM (GMT)
WOW, this is unbelievable, not one response to my Bob Knight thread I started yesterday, but all these responses for a worthless Bush loving rich bitch. I could care less about Britney Spears and all her spoiled rich troubles. God forbid if she had real problems like most of us, trying to survive by working our asses off.

Britney Spears need to grow up and stop acting like a immature spoiled three year whiny brat. :bad:

The Paraclete - February 7, 2008 02:50 AM (GMT)
And THAT was EXACTLY the point I was trying to make AGMIL...The media would rather follow around worthless celebs rather than talk about REAL ISSUES! :dripple:

You should have named your Bob Knight topic...Bob Knight Dates Britney Spears...or Bob Knight on the Town with Paris Hilton!...Then you would GET views & REPLIES! ;)
