Well, I'm sorry to hear this. I really like John Edwards and almost voted for him, it was really a tough and close decision for me. Maybe he will run again at some point in the future, as he is young and will probably only improve with age. Meanwhile, he can spend time with Elizabeth which is very sacred, precious and important right now, so that is an up side.
I hope he doesn't endorse Obama.

It is now time for Gore to start thinking of getting in. It is never too late for justice. If he wants to take care of Global Warming, he will have to do it himself because no one else is taking on the issue.

I'm sorry to hear this too. I was afraid it was coming. I like John Edwards and think he ran a good campaign and tried to stay on topic with the issues. I wish him and his wife the best.

I am not a fan
but reading tealeaves this is a helleva time to quit
Makes no sense
If you ask me(and no one ever does) he was blackmailed out by teamClinton
because his taking a few votes here and there from her would have stopped her from getting enough delegates
Just makes no sense
Florida was a beautycontest with no meaning
So why now and not super tuesday?
This is mind boggling

Let me say a good word for John Edwards and his courageous wife Elizabeth. That's a couple that puts family values into action. My very best to Elizabeth in her struggle with cancer. :good:
I'm assuming he dropped out because it became clear that he wasn't going to get the nomination and his campaign was running out of money. Also, he probably wanted to let his supporters feel free to vote for another candidate on February 5th.

Howard Dean might be the last hope for a brokered convention. I hope he enforces the disqualification of Florida and Michigan from the convention.

Yes, I heard the campaign didn't have the money to continue, and I also heard from someone close to that campaign that it was in total disarray. They never got their act together.

I can't remember who, but someone here said they were going to vote for Edwards. Guess they won't now.
I'm kind of surprised he quit so soon.

I totally agree, Wayne. The Edwards are a class act, all the way. Elizabeth has been so impressive throughout her struggle with cancer.

I don't think it was money because Super Tuesday is only a few days away, and why not just stay in and see if a miracle happens, if money were the only issue? He wouldn't have to spend any more, if you think about it. He is already on the ballots. No, I think it is because he has a lot of integrity and really cares about the country and he wants to time his endorsement of another candidate to where it can do the most good in terms of actually garnering some votes for that person, so I think he is about to endorse one of the two before Super Tuesday.
Edwards was actually my favorite candidate in the race. This is the first primary in history in which I didn't vote for my favorite candidate, but for the one I thought could win. Usually, a primary is the place to vote your ideals and heart. But I just worry that he might throw his delegates behind the wrong person, so I went with who I would prefer to get the nomination, of the two who still have a shot. Just on the off chance that Florida's delegates are seated, afterall. It was heartbreaking, though. Of course I really wanted to vote "Al Gore", but, since that wasn't a ballot option, my heart and mind said "John Edwards", but my little "X" actually got placed somewhere else.
John Edwards has a lot of integrity, passion, strength, good ideas, and is on the right side of every issue I can think of. His influence will live on in this race.
