Boy, changes, changes etc.
What a feeling of????----the Titanic going down perhaps.
To just log in and see that an entire commmunity has been virtually wiped off?
One of our worlds new wrinkles, huh?
Humans and their need for attachments.
"Don't matter what nobody says, ain't nobody likes to be alone! (Bruuuuuuce)."
Glad to see everyone is still kicking!

Just trying to get the 'troll poop' of off the top in discussion boards...I feel we give the mentally ill Dittoheads & Freepers an 'outlet' for their insanity tooooo much of the time here!
By the waaaaay, not meaning to sound 'smarmy'...(but it will anyway)...has anyone thought of updating the homepage? The title article claims it was updated in 2006...since MOST visitors see THIS page first then I think an updating of the materials MAY be in order!
Not being 'testy' EM...just pointing out something...and taking BAD threads made by 'trolls' OFF of the TOP at the same time! ;)

I have no control over the homepage. That's Chris Jackson's baby, and he has sole access to changing it. He just dumped the forum on me a few years ago without even asking. That's the only reason I'm in this position . . .
As for getting rid of offensive threads, I usually do, but I was without a computer for four days and these got through. And now that people have responded, I hate taking them off. I'll have to look at them more carefully and see if they deserve being deleted.
EM, at your service . . . :D

Wow. Well, we deeply appreciate you taking on the forum. What would we all do without each other?! Us Gore supporters have to stick together (and/or argue ceaselessly). Otherwise, society as we know it will break down!

I do wonder what will become of us now that Gore is out for 2008. Today I debated whether I should take the Gore '08 bumper stickers off my car. I almost did it, and then I said, well, you just never know. But I think in a few days it will be time. :(

Earth, I hope this forum will stay open as a way for Gore supporters to stay connected and keep up with his crucial work as a private citizen, as well as discuss politics from a Gore/green perspective, etc. I just want to say I'd really, REALLY miss this community if it disappeared into the cybermists. I know it is a lot of time and effort for you to keep it up...but I want to stay connected with you and James and Texan for Gore and Wayne and al001 and even Clay (God help me!), and too many others to list.
And, you know, Gore COULD win in 2012 if McCain wins now (provided the human race is still around by that point).
But even if Gore never sets foot back into politics again, he is still, as a private citizen, a Nobel Laureate, and a respected public figure, going to be "interfacing" with the political arena to get things done, and he is going to be doing an amazing quality and amount of work as a private citizen just like he has for the past seven years. He's certainly given us a lot to discuss during that time (like "An Inconvenient Truth", etc.).
My vote goes to keeping this forum alive...count my vote! (Just kidding on that last part's loaded meaning in light of 2000, this primary season, ETC.) Seriously, I would love to see this cybercommunity continue, if you are up for it.
If you are sick of the lot of us, that is understandable, too! :Y:

You're joking, right? I need this board as much as anyone! I will continue on as long as the board stays up, but Chris Jackson pays the bills, and since I haven't heard from him in several years, I have no idea what his intentions are. But as far as I'm concerned, we're here for the long haul. :good:

Hang in there EM and I will be here to give any support I can. This community has worked hard to get Al Gore on the ticket. We are all now completely aware that won't happen but that does not mean the job is over.
We began with the intent of having Gore as the next President but even without our preferred choice we still have obligations to all the future generations. We can honor that obligation by working together to return the party back to unity. By countering some of the lies and unwarranted slams that are coming. We have a great man on the ticket now and he deserves our strongest level of support.

*WHEW!* Thank goodness you said that! I'm so glad to hear we are here until the last drop of ice melts from the polar ice caps...and possibly beyond that time, or until we PREVENT that time...and beyond. (Okay, I really need to start sleeping more than 3-1/2 hours per night because my writing is becoming TOTALLY incoherent.)
I hope Chris sticks with us by keeping the board up.
Glad to hear you won't be going anywhere, earthmother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are the lighthouse beacon I look for here on this site. Without you, society as we know it breaks down!!!

Hi Everyone!!
I'm finally getting to pop in to check up on things here - I miss you guys!!
Just HAD to comment on this one, as I've previously told the tale of my sad little VW with all the DraftGore.com stickers holding the top together (the "Goremobile" :D ). Anyway, as luck would have it, a tornado touched down not far from my house and the winds were enough to blow over a tree in my yard... on my car. My initial thought was that I have plenty more Gore stickers  , but, alas, they would do nothing for the broken axle. (Duh, Allison, a tree fell on your car!)
So now I have a new-to-me car, but can't seem to actually get a sticker on it. I have a lovely GORE '08 sticker that was sent to me back in the fall, which was merely awaiting a new car to stick to. For a week now, I've been trying to get the Obama sticker on the car, but I really want to put the Gore sticker on instead... woe is me!
Can I put them both on the car so people will know who I really wanted? Or is that somehow... just plain  ?
Hangingchad - I love the new avatar, nice pic!
earthmother - June 10, 2008 02:49 PM (GMT)
Well, I took my Gore '08 stickers off altogether last week (it made me cry). But I don't see any reason why you couldn't have both Obama and Gore on there. I think it's actually a great idea because people think you're nuts now if you just have a Gore sticker on, so this gives you an excuse!
Texan for Gore - June 10, 2008 04:47 PM (GMT)
I don't know how I missed these last 7 posts. :?: Guess I didn't quite scroll down to the bottom of the main thread page.
Hangingchad, you are so sweet. :) I want to stay connected with you guys too. Some people have commented on the infighting here at the board, but really, I think we all are a pretty level-headed and reasonable bunch. We've all had our differences of opinions, and okay, yeah, a few disagreements, but hey, we're only human. We eventually come around and find common ground.
This has been a historic primary season what with both a strong woman and strong African-American running. Emotions have run high. (Whew! That's an understatement, huh. ) But eventually, I hope we will all look beyond the trees to the beautiful forest on the other side (for lack of a better analogy, lol). Who was it that recently said, if we don't watch it, we will rip defeat from the claws of the Repugs? or something like that. FellowDemocrat, maybe? That could certainly come true if we're not careful.
Earthmother, I am sooo relieved to know that you will continue to take care of our board - or rather the board that Chris Jackson founded for us here. Thank you for all you do. I don't know what we'd do without you. :?: Also, I've never had any interaction with Mr. Jackson, but thanks to Chris for creating this forum and footing the bill. :good: IMO, it's been a very worthy cause.
Al001, glad to see you back on the board. Thank you for providing us with information that we need to know about. I have truly learned a lot from them.
TK, glad to see you back as well. I'd put both bumper stickers on and wear them with pride. :good:

Hello tkdveg! It's good to hear from you.
Yes it's been an interesting 2008 so far  With any luck, the good people here and elsewhere will deal with the inevitable disappointment and find a way to get back in the groove of working towards a better country and world. I hope we remember to have some fun along the way.
Yes, I think it's a fine idea to have both Gore and Obama stickers on your new car, if that's what you want. Bugs hasn't mentioned a thing to me about taking
Gore in 2008! down from his sign.
Sorry Senator McCain, but it's Sitting Duck Season
The Paraclete - June 11, 2008 05:26 PM (GMT)
Sorry EM, not meaning to dis the website, but Chris needs to do some updating on the homepage or get somebody else to do it...I would volunteer, but as I may be off-line again in a month...that doesn't give me a whole lot of time...new house means no Net unless I pay for it, and since it isn't my house then I may not be able to do it at all...wish me God's will, because that's what it will take to stay on line!...A MIRACLE! :o
