China also owns big chunks of us as well. As much as I am against taxes, I am against the Federal Government 'borrowing' even more. Cutting taxes without reducing spending is just ridiculous!
I heard Rush Limbaugh say that we might as well forget about alternative energies, hybrid cars and innovation. He said it is oil that runs us and will always be that way. I disagree. The automobile is just over 100 years old. With the way this nation 'innovated' computer technology, I cannot see why we cannot innovate ourselves away from foriegn oil dependency. What are you saying Limbaugh? That this 'great' nation has finally become so stupid and lacking of resources that we cannot do anything but kow-tow to the Persian Gulf while Sheihks there continue to fund the likes of Osama bin-Laden? Rush, for somebody who wants a victory over islamic fascists, you sure don't want to put yourself out of any daily amenities!
And that has been the entire reason why your war with Iraq failed. It was more than just getting everybody on one side about it using fabrications, and then urging we stay the course. WAR means motivating everyone, like it was in WWII. That means rationing fuel and supplies and gearing every part of our industry and society on winning that war. Wars are not meant to be an everyday part of the scenery that pop in and out between reports of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. That's why this war like Vietnam failed in respects of accomplishing a goal, because there was no clear goal to accomplish.
