Alpha Gore Omega - December 22, 2007 12:37 AM (GMT)
Obama told a crowd last night that he talks to Al Gore every three weeks. This is the link and story:

A Little Al Gore Name Dropping
Barack Obama, last night in Portsmouth, N.H., advised a guy wearing a Santa hat to go to his Web site to learn more about his plan to combat global warming. And then he said this:

"I talk to Al Gore about every three weeks, and we're going to make sure that your home at the North Pole is still available to you," Obama said, reports NBC/NJ's Erin McPike.

Endorsement tease, anyone?

END OF REPRINTED ARTICLE.

I have thought for months that Obama has been a stalking horse for Gore all along. Gore's partner in Current has a relative who Oct 2006 registered the website www.goreobama.com THis was just before Obama's rise to prominence. There are plenty of other pieces of evidence that points to collusion between the two which I have mentioned previously.

I am still picking a Gore-Obama joint ticket through the primaries so that if you cant vote for Gore in a certain state you can vote for Obama delegates and they will vote for Gore-Obama at the convention. I did think this ticket would be announced prior to Christmas but that is now very unlikely. I suspect it may now be mid Jan. Anyway, we will know with about two days in advance. Gore and Obama's media people will let it be known that Gore and Obama are going to have a meeting. The media will say it is for Gore to endorse Obama - but it will be the reverse and effectively end the entire race for the Presidency. Gore-Obama will have astronomical poll numbers against Hillary and any GOP team.

Alpha Gore Omega, you're either psychic or psycho, I can't decide which. :D

I'm hoping for the former, but I'll believe it when I see it. ;) :Y:

Thanks TN Blue - i think you are right and I will be the first to admit I am mad if there is not a Gore-Obama ticket.

If you read the Q&A with Gore and TIME this week I think he drops some pretty heavy hints that he is preparing to run. Here are the highlights:

QUESTION: The person in the world who has the most power to shape the response to climate change is the President of the US. Given the fact that you've emerged as a global spokesperson on this issue, don't you have a responsibility to put yourself forward?

ANSWER: I appreciate the question, and I agree with you that there is no position on Earth with anything like the potential influence over events as the office of President of the U.S. But I have seen during eight years as the Vice President, the other prerequisites that are necessary for the kind of galvanizing response that is needed. When I left Kyoto, I was feeling very positive about the breakthrough we had there. When I tried to convince the Senate to ratify the treaty, I could only convince 1 senator out of 100 to vote for it. When I was talking to the others, I saw behind their eyes, the calculations of what this controversy might mean to their reelection campaign. I don't want to diminish them. I saw the lack of support behind them for the boldness I was urging them to demonstrate, and I do believe that this is the rate crisis that requires a fundamental shift of public opinion at the grass roots level, to embolden members of the legislative branch in this country, and in other countries, to take the kind of action that is needed. If I felt the best use of my talents was to pursue these solutions by becoming a candidate for President, I would do that. I have not completely ruled out the possibility at some point in the future I might reenter the political system. But I don't expect to do that, and I don't think that's likely to happen. What feels right to me is to wage this different kind of campaign. To try to convince a majority of our fellow citizens and people in the rest of the world that we must make the solution of the climate crisis our top priority.

QUESTION: Would you consider a position in another Administration?

ANSWER: No.

QUESTION: For all the momentum we're seeing, climate change hasn't really emerged as a top issue on the campaign trail.

ANSWER: I agree, so what does that tell me? That tells me that the highest and best use of whatever talent and experience I've gained along the way is best applied to the task of changing public opinion. These candidates, if they walk down the street in Manchester, NH, and every other person they encounter buttonholes them about climate change, you would hear very different stump speeches. When their pollsters go out and ask people what they think, what issues are most important to them, what do you feel passionate about, it's only when climate change moves to the top of that list that the political dialogue will really change. I'm doing everything I know to bring about that change. Why not jump into the race as a candidate and make it an issue? I've run for national office four times — twice for President, twice for Vice President. I've learned a great deal about how to do that, and what the limitations are of that strategy. When you take a look at candidates from both parties and what they are discussing, it shows how much work needs to be done to bring about that change.

QUESTION: Isn't that a Catch 22 of sorts?

ANSWER: It's a push pull process. I think that again I will say that rather than trying to analyze it logically, and wrestle it to the ground, intuitively, I feel very strongly that what I am doing is the right thing to do. And if you break it down logically, you can come up with reasons to make a different choice. But when you have all those factors out together, there is no doubt in my mind that this is the right thing for me to be doing right now. Might there come a time when the future of the balance shifts, and the opportunity to make more headway and bring about more progress as a candidate seems like the right thing to do? Maybe. I doubt it but maybe. I'm open to the possibility emerging.

'I AM OPEN TO THE POSSIBLITY EMERGING.'

Keep the faith everyone - Gore is going to run.

From these comments, Gore shows that he believes he can wield the most influence by staying outside of the electoral process. Obama recently said that the three main issues in his administration will be ending the war in Iraq, health care, and energy policy, but that he thinks energy policy should be the primary one. His views are very close to Gore, so it seems likely at this point that Gore is wielding influence by advising Obama. If Obama and Clinton are tied in mid-January, it is possible that there could be a Gore-Obama ticket, but I think it is more likely that Gore will endorse Obama on the condition that he makes the climate change issue a priority. I think Obama-Richardson is probably the best ticket for a Gore supporter, unless Gore changes his mind about the VP slot and we get Obama-Gore, which would be simply awesome.
