Title: Bill Clinton's My Life

In this much-anticipated presidential autobiography, The 42nd president of the United States is expected to reveal, for the first time and in his own words, how he sees his life and career. It has been said of Clinton that he likes to talk at length, and this 900-page work promises to be a major statement. As he did with many of his speeches as president, Clinton worked on the book up until the last minute, sharing bits of it with friends and confidantes with evident relish and delight. He was able meet the early deadline so the book could be published in June, allaying any fears that its release would take the spotlight away from the Democratic nominee's Fall campaign. Will he address his less-than-auspicious roots, his success as a Rhodes scholar at Oxford, and his early years in politics and as governor of Arkansas? What will he say about his wife Hillary and the Monica Lewinsky scandal that cast a shadow on what many consider to have been an otherwise impressive two-term presidency? Whether MY LIFE will be a tell-all, a mea culpa, a political stump speech--or an attempt to write history-- it is one of the most anticipated political books of this election year.

I started reading "My Life" this weekend... so far I've loved it. I almost cried a few times in the first few chapters!!! Clinton recalls touching details from his childhood and refers to his values, which have been largely smeared/ignored by the Republicans.

I've gotten to about page 300. I love this book. It is fascinating, even exhiliarating. There are very emotional parts to it, and Bill does a spectacular job of keeping the reader reading. A great book for a great life and spectacular presidency. A+

I haven't read it and not sure if I will. For those of you who have read it or are reading it, I would like to know if there is any mention of AL GORE in it???

I haven't read much of the book yet, but there are a few references to Al ... also, there are some good pictures in the center of the two of them. It's such an inspiration to see how much they did for our country =)

Thanks, it sounds like some interesting reading, just hope there is the well deserved praise of AL GORE somewhere in the book. He has more than earned it over the years.

I bought the book in the two part paper back version. I breezed through the first half. It is a great story and Clinton is the epitome of the American story. He writes as he speaks, with compassion and humanely. Great book and a must read!!

I've been wanting to pick it up for awhile now. Bill Clinton is one of my idols and i hear it's a great book.

By the way, it is rediculous to want Al Gore spoken about in a book about Bill Clinton... honestly now.

Excuse me, I find that remark rather rude and uncalled for.

AL GORE was not only Clinton's V.P. for eight years, but the best V.P. this country has ever had, so yes he should not only be mentioned in a book about Clinton, but spoken of with total respect and praise.

Why are you here if all you do is insult AL GORE and some members here??? I for one am tired of it.

Ok, the book is a biography about Bill Clinton, not Al Gore. Yes, he was Clinton's VP but that does not mean that he has to be mentioned in a book about Bill Clinton. Is it that hard to comprehend?

All i do is insult Al Gore and the members of this forum? How did you come to that conclusion? Why, because i have a different opinion than you on certain issues? You gotta be kidding me here. With the exception of the two gun threads i started, i have been praising Al Gore and this website. Fortunately, we live in a free country where we can speak with our own opinions... if you don't like listening to anyones opinions that aren't the same as yours, then go move to Communist North Korea.

Look FD, I have had it with your rude and obnoxious remarks, I have pretty much stayed out of your obsessions with guns, but your constant harassment of me and others is going to stop one way or another. You have insulted AL GORE, by stating you would vote for someone else. I won't delete your last post, but watch it.

This is an AL GORE site, in case you have forgotten and telling me to move to Communist North Korea is way out of line, and you say you don't insult people???

earthmother - October 3, 2005 12:26 AM (GMT)
Okay, okay. The problem here is the usual thing when we start getting on each other's backs. And the solution is to address the ISSUE, not the PERSON. That goes for all people who post here. So let's try to back off the personal stuff and just discuss the issues.

I would hardly consider my remarks to be "Harassment." In all reality, i havn't said anything to you or anyone else on this board that could be considering "Harassment." You just need to comp to grips with reality and understand that is not a Utopia world we live in and we all don't agree on everything.

I don't think that Al Gore would take it too personally if i said i would keep my options open. We are only in October of 2005 right now, we have plenty of time to decide who we will vote for. Who knows, maybe i will vote for Gore, only time will tell. Nowhere on this board have i ruled out an Al Gore vote, nowhere. All i was doing was stating who i think are good candidates in the thread "The Democratic Party: Looking ahead to 2008." As i recall, that thread is for talking about other Democratic candidates... so, i was doing no harm.

I could counter your claims and start whining about you threatening me, but i'm not going to. See, i understand that we all don't agree and that politics infuriates people from time to time (I personally have yet to get to that level and probably never will).

The moving to North Korea was a joke. I decided to throw it in because it seems as if it were up to you, no one else could join this forum if they didn't share the same opinion (Kinda of like a Communist country). Take a chill pill.

Hold it up, FD. The rules on this and any other forum call for people to post about the issues. When posts are addressed to a person, they cross over into dangerous territory, and the poster needs to be very careful how he/she words things or there's always the risk of offending someone. So, as I said a few posts back, everyone discussing this topic needs to back up the truck and talk about the issue and stop directing things at a particular person. We moderators hate to haul out the big guns, and I don't see why that should be necessary in this case, but it's good for everyone to be aware of the rules and stick to discussing the issues only.

And I might add, I think we're already being extremely tolerant by putting up with your avatar of an assault weapon. Personally, it strikes me as something you're doing to thumb your nose at us. But we do believe in freedom of speech here, so we're allowing it. We don't require that everyone here hold the same opinions about things, and we've had plenty of very emotional arguments about all kinds of hot issues over the years. But we need to remain respectful of each other, okay?

Nice post FD.....

Threatening you????? You know what, I was waiting for a good laugh today. :D

earthmother - October 3, 2005 12:47 AM (GMT)
Let's get back on the topic of discussing Clinton's book, or I'll be locking this topic.

Agreed.

By the way, it was not my intention to "Harass" anyone on this board, nor did i think i was doing that at anytime. In addition, the avatar is there because it is something i enjoy, not for anyother reason.

Okay. 'nuff said.
