Title: Robert Redford Bashes Al Gore
ALGOREismylife - November 24, 2007 07:03 PM (GMT)
Shove it Redford and shut your damn hole.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,312684,00.htmlRedford Bashes GoreOne of Hollywood's leading liberals is taking shots at Al Gore. Robert Redford tells the New Statesman magazine:
"He's making a lot of money; he's having a… heroic moment. It must have been really hard for Gore to suffer all that [losing the presidential election], so he found another thing to come back with: the environment. He had a lot of money behind him, because in Clinton's administration there was a lot of money. With that he was able to build himself a new campaign and pick an issue. And he picked an issue that just happened to arrive at its moment in time."
And when asked why Gore will not get back into politics, Redford says: "What's most important: to be a hero to your country and go save it… or do you want to be happy and rich and be a hero and not get into the political scene?"

#1) That's from Fox News
#2) That's from Fox News
#3) If Redford did say that, maybe he's just trying to push Al's buttons to get him to run. I can't dislike Robert Redford. He's done a lot for the environment, plus....he's just soooooo darn sexy.  ;)
ReElectAlGore2008 - November 24, 2007 08:11 PM (GMT)
I love Robert Redford.
He puts his money where his mouth is his entire life.
He doesn't back off when threatened either.
Al Gore has made 100s of millions of dollars since losing...and there are many people who wonder WTF he is thinking by not running and winning awards
If the end of the US of A is near as many people think, because nobody stepped up to the plate, what's the good of winning all those awards?
Where they just a Gold Watch people get when they are told to step aside so someone new comes in?
If he didn't answer the call, forever we shall wonder WHY????
It's not like anyone is going to give a spit about Al's issues once Hillary Rodham ClintonBush takes office Jan.09 (with George Bush's approval too)
She wins Iowa, the whole race is over. 5 weeks and counting.

Sorry I can't agree with you guys, I just can't warm up to anyone who bashes AL GORE for any reason. No way. :bad:

I don't think he's made quite that much and as for "losing," AL GORE didn't LOSE anything. If you are referring to the 2000 election, have you forgotten that election was rigged and stolen????

since losing "the 12-12-2000, the day that shall live in infamy worst day in American history" supreme court 5 to 4 decision that did not allow him the right to take his residency in the house he won
But- Robert Redford has been in the forefront for 4 decades now on environmental issues.
He is not someone we should be putting down. What he says is basically true IMHO of course.
And if it somehow goads Al into doing what we all here want him to do, it will have worked. And if not, again, we all have a right to be bitter.

And where's the 'bashing?' Just because britt hume (from fox 'news')
says that Redford 'bashed' Al, doesn't mean that it's true.
And just because he titled an article 'Redford bashes Gore,' doesn't
mean that it's true.
I've read 'britts' article, and I've read the article from the
newstatesman that he's 'quoting,' and I'm just not convinced
(even if the quotes are accurate) that it was Redfords intention to
'bash' anyone. I think that britt is 'creating' 'news.' This article is
next to one claiming that the Democratic party is the party of the
'rich', (and the republican party? [the downtrodden])?
BTW, certain names in the above post have been intentionally
left uncapitalized.

AL GORE HAS BEEN IN THE FOREFRONT SINCE THE 70s.
GO SPOUT YOUR REPUG POINTS
WHERE THEY BELONG...
IN THE TRASH CAN YOU FRAUD!

If Robert Redford wished to bash anyone at all, it would be a bashing clearly and not obscure!
I think he was just thinking out loud in a manner that I have done over and over again!
Excuse me but Gore has made over a 100 million that he has kept for himself!
I got no problem at all with that, but it is a fact that a man that was not worth 10 million maybe even less unless he sold and cashed in everything to the walls, well he has made well over 100 million for his family now.
He has also has turned away millions if you add it up before and after he started making money. He never took a $90,000 dollar a year paycheck from MTSU and he could have BUT he did not!
He just recently started giving those $100,000 dollar plus lectures and I don't blame him for that either cause it appears to me that he just charged those that could afford to pay!
I would, I have told him before he made the money that if Rodney had his money, Rodney would never work again and he and his grandson would enjoy life everyday till the grandson graduated college and ivy league college, while I ran around Manhattan!!!
Now that he has big huge money, well Redford just asks the question;
What would you rather be? Someone who is rich, revelant, listened too by the world respected and a hero or someone who could lose all crediblity, all of that hard earned recent respect and wind up a loser albeit a very rich loser?????
Hmmn I think Redford paraphrased my threads if ya check them???
I vote and have voted for him to take his money and respect and the last good physical years of his life with Tipper and enjoy the heck out of them. He owes us nothing.
Now I could also say---well why doesn't Redford run??? They have talked up the idea of a Reford run before ya know and he even made that movie about running years ago as well! The Candidate 1972
I don't blame Redford! He is doing the same thing! Staying rich, a hero to many and not taking the chance to be a heroic nation saving person.
How easy, how demanding we are to expect Gore to live up to our expectations after his over 25 years of sacrifice to public service and media lies!
I don't blame Redford or Gore for NOT running!
It was not a blast, it was a response that was over most people heads cause most people don't have to option to be a herioc historic figure or not.
I made a 3.493 GPA as an undergrad, MAINLY because Prof Gore's classes were pass/fail only and not a letter grade! If they had been a letter grade, I would have been Cum Laude!
I look at it like the grandson now has a chance to beat my record by going Cum Laude.
I have told Prof Gore, let it go, let your daughter or another family member, maybe Wyatt, have chance to beat your record like you did your father's record by becoming a president of the USA in the future!
Enjoy your best years of life left with Tipper and friends! I would!
I agree it was a half hearted long distance attempt to dare Gore to run, but he also understands why he would not run as well as he stated! Nothing wrong with that!
ReElectAlGore2008 - November 27, 2007 11:41 PM (GMT)
Of course, he can enjoy all the years left-
but what if the world doesn't have all that many years left, and no one saves it?
Then there will not be all those years left?
What if the entire world looks like the world Blacks had to face in New Orleans at gun point when they blew the levees during Katrina?
Like the great pastor once said "first they came for....but it was not me, so I did nothing...
When they came for me, no one was left....(paraphrasing it).
Where have you gone Al Gore? A nation turns its lonely eyes to you...
(difference between Robert Redford and Al Gore- Al Gore was born and bred to be President, not to be head of a corporation or two
There won't be a 2016 the way things are going downhill...
Anybody got any Citibank accounts? Better make sure they are insured before the crash.
oleblueraider - November 28, 2007 04:17 AM (GMT)
You act like that he will inspire what has to be the sorriest bunch of congressmen and senators in my lifetime to follow his lead?????
Not to mention a USSC that has proven it will legislate judically for the right!
Recall hamstrung Carter?
Oh yeah, Gore knows the senate and congress, hmmmn maybe why he isn't running?
This is still a virtual 50/50 nation or 33/33/33 at best case?
President Gore would be able to pass some environemtnal legislation and would called a terriost lover the moment he tried to roll back to our rights, etc.
He would not be the cure all for this nation! A good start, but not under this current zeitgeist that prevails in our culture!
Bush came in whether it was a conspiracy or a perfect storm of having the first far right majority, along with the USSC and an attack of epic proportions that gave him a blank check for his agenda!
Too bad Gore didn't have that check to cash, but the good will and money is gone now!
The Paraclete - November 28, 2007 08:14 AM (GMT)
It should read Redford Goads Al Gore...Robert is trying the oldest trick in the book...make the LPOTUS mad enough to run! Sorry, but you cannot egg on Al Gore! If THAT would work then we would ALL be trying to do it! britt hume is just another Shrub paid shill trying to make something out of nothing...one wonders how much of it is true especially coming from the Faux News Network...
imprisonslimebush - November 28, 2007 09:10 PM (GMT)
I wouldn't believe anything from Fixed News,,,even the tiniest morsel of truth goes thru their lunatic spin machine. And if this WERE true, I don't see it as 'bashing' at all,,,,just hoping-against-hope, a kind of indirect begging on Redford's part

Britt Hume is an ultra-pompous, ultra-condescending, clueless, disrespectful, flaming weeniebutt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*
(And that was the civil, substantive version of what I have to say about that man. He's a legend in his own mind.)
Robert Redford, on the other hand, is pretty dang wonderful and cool. I agree with those who implore that we consider the source on this article.
* edited to add: I commenced my detestation of Britt when he, years back now, decided to bash Helen Thomas of UPI fame on a Fox Sunday morning pundit show. He totally trashed her. He was very mean, not to mention totally wrong/inaccurate. Meanwhile, he is not fit to spit shine her shoes!

oleblueraider, you hit the nail on the head:
"You act like that he will inspire what has to be the sorriest bunch of congressmen and senators in my lifetime to follow his lead?????
Not to mention a USSC that has proven it will legislate judically for the right!

Members of the same Congress that did not cry "foul" in the 2000 election theft. The "Go along to get along" Democrats. Pansies in congress.
This is what gets me about people afraid of Ron Paul. No, I don't agree with him or only partially agree with him on some issues. But Ron Paul is not going to get the cooperation of the current congress. He would, however, shake things up and show them up for what they are. A lot of what he wants is what Americans want back- and when congress refuses to give it back, I think you'd then see a major shake up in that body, if elections are fair. This is necessary for progress and Gore.
I'm tired of the mantra that only the dictated middle ground is acceptable or nothing happens and you have a "do nothing" administration. An administration that goes in and shows Congress for what it really is will be doing a LOT.
In a fair election environment, Ron Paul could be that person. Follow up with Al Gore.
(Of course, as I've posted before, Gore needs to rethink NAFTA. Perhaps Paul could help that along)
But hey, I'm thinking out of the box again... :!:
ReElectAlGore2008 - November 29, 2007 08:56 PM (GMT)
Ron Paul did nothing in a decade or more and therefore is part of the problem
not a solution
