Gore in NH next month to moderate Dems during forum on climate issues! by Great Lakes Gal Thu Nov 15, 2007 at 11:21:21 AM PST I've been watching to see what the next interesting thing will be from Al. He's going to be in New Hampshire next month with our presidential candidates.
Running for president??? Boy don't I wish! But this is the next best thing in my book. . . interacting with all the presidential candidates as a moderator for a bipartisan forum on energy and climate change.
Al will be working with a GOP-counterpart to moderate this bipartisan forum. Can you guess who it will be????
Ahnold!!!
According to the San Jose Mercury News, Al and Ahnold are working on the details of this bipartisan forum. Al will moderate the Dems and Ahnold will handle the Republicans.
I cannot wait to see Al face to face with Hillary, Barack, and John to challenge them on climate and energy issues. In particular, I cannot wait to hear exchanges between Al and Hillary!!!! I hope this gets media coverage.
Sounds like plans are still in the works. Very exciting!!! |

This is very interesting!
He's so "Presidential" he'll make some (read: all) of them look bad.
Just his presence will make them stumble on this issue - kind of like Einstein coming in to give you the final exam in science!!
I wonder which Repugs won't show up?!?
IanOC - November 16, 2007 03:15 AM (GMT)
I was overwhelmed when I read this. Although he's not running, Gore is going to play a very big role in the election. This is going to be a very interesting thing to watch. Gore as moderator? The best presidential candidate in the U.S. moderating a debate among the other candidates? Wild.
He is setting himself up as kingmaker.
It would be great if someone DraftGore folks showed up outside...

This explains what one of the problems was for the Gore camp as far as the ballot and write-in campaigns were concerned.
AlGoreFan - November 16, 2007 04:10 PM (GMT)
Al is working both sides in the USA to achieve his goal of increased climate change legislation. I applaud him and his efforts.

You are absolutely right....good point. That comment about "other problems" makes sense in this context, and that the forum is on climate change makes even more sense.

I want to see WHO the LPOTUS favors...I'm putting my bets on Senator Clinton... ;)
As for the GOP 'no shows'...pay CLOSE attention to THAT as well...I am assuming neocon picks won't give this the time of day...giving US a good idea of WHO the next Idiot King will be...WHO to avoid that is...The Karl Rove Secret BU$Hwacker Choice.. ;)

I wish I could find the positive in this. Interacting with cnadidates and being a candidate is a large gulf apart.
IanOC - November 21, 2007 04:00 AM (GMT)
Does anyone know when in December this forum is going to be? It seems to me that Al can use it to either (1) endorse one of the candidates, or (2) say, I have to get in this race because I am the only one who will address this issue -- although (2) won't happen because the filing deadlines will have passed for most of the Super Tuesday states.

Yes, the date of this event could be problematic if he's going to get in, but I also think it would make a great jumping off point if (when) he doesn't hear what he wants to hear from the wanna-be's. They'll all be trying to talk a good game though, but it will be mostly lip-service and he knows that. I will be interesting, no matter what!
GOP no-show bets: definitely Thompson #1, and those 3 who said in an early 'let's-play-debate' that they didn't believe in evolution. Rudy will show up just so he can pretend he's all buddy-buddy with A'nold!
Uncle Joe - November 28, 2007 10:58 PM (GMT)
Does anyone know the date of the debate, that Al Gore will be moderating?

Hey, great idea - now we have a "Plan B"!! I'll run on the 'Reason' Ticket!
Boy, talk about Gore-lite!!! Do ya think he'll mind if I quote him a few times?
HHmmm, now I just need a VP... :coolwink:
tkdveg - November 30, 2007 07:28 PM (GMT)
And thanks for that, AlGoreFan!
I definitely needed a laugh right about then - even if it was at myself!!
I was in way too serious a mood, and reaching critical mass!
I love the suggestion too - I'm no Gore, but at least we'd have his agenda! :Y:

Looks like this event is not happening. :?:

A spokeswoman for former Vice President Al Gore said there are no plans for him to come to the Granite State this month despite a report last month that he and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger were going to hold an event somewhere in the state on climate change.
Gore spokeswoman Kalee D. Kreider wrote in an e-mail "there is not a global warming event planned with Mr. Gore in NH in December" to Primary Source assistant Brian Lawson.

So, feel free to correct my thinking but I don't believe that's necessarily a bad thing. Maybe none or too few of the candidates would participate and the whole thing got called off. And if that's true, just maybe it will really piss Gore off enough to jump in. Ya think?

I do find this to be an odd and interesting turn of events . . .

I'm still trying to figure out where this
'came from'...
and then 'went'...

Trust me, it "came from" a reliable source. Where it went, I can't say.
