Title: recall of toys made in China
Description: lead paint

I do not understand why we continue to allow supposed US companies to produce products for children in countries that consistently use lead based paint. We know they use it, the daily recalls are a good clue, yet no one seems to want to stop it. It seems it is "cheaper" for the companies to issue a refund than for them to provide quality products.
I, for one, feel all of these companies should be boycotted until they either start making the products in the USA-like they should anyway-or until they enforce the same regulations as are in place in this country. I, personally, will no longer be buying any products I know are made by Matel or Hotwheels, or any other company who makes a profit in the USA by risking the health of our children and producing the toys in China with lead paint. Maybe my personal boycott will not hurt theses companies too much, even though I have 4 children, but I plan to tell anyone who will listen to stop buying from these companies until someone sits up and listens.
Thank you for letting me post this here, as well.

And WalMart is the biggest offender.

Yes, they are. If they were not so interested in making the largest profit possible, companies would not be forced to have their products made in less than adequate countries-or shut down all together.
However, if these large companies would regulate and inspect these products according to the standards set in the US, we would not have to worry about lead paint in toys or the seals on cans or any other thing we buy.
I am just sick and tired of the recalls being allowed, but no one taking the responsible approach and banning products that aren't fully inspected and up to the codes and standards BEFORE it becomes a problem or a recall.
Why do children have to get sick and die before anything is done?
I am going to push this everywhere and anywhere. I have written to my local representatives. I have started a blog, at least, I think I have. I am not one to sit around at the computer, but I have to start somewhere.
This topic needs to be a major issue everywhere, and I am only one. I am not a rich political business person with major financial backing. I am a mom tired of being thought of as cruel because I won't buy certain toys or because I have to take away a favorite one. And very tired of having to worry about it at all.

Let me give you something else to consider, Avendesora: your food.

If you want to research country of origin food labeling, it gets even scarier. At least with the toys you can find out where they came from. You can do that too with seafood. You can't do it with products made up of ingredients that come from a variety of countries as many of them do.

It's probably just best not to think about it too much or your brain will explode. There's another reason for growing and buying local foods besides reducing the carbon footprint of the transportation costs.
