Title: Gore is already running for 2008--On his own terms
Description: Gore reveals strategy in Rolling Stone

I just replied to a discouraged poster on the Alternet airing of Gore's Thursday's 30ROCK on NBC http://www.alternet.org/blogs/video/67409/. Here's what I said:

I share your frustration, but my faith is in Gore's using all of this to show us how our democracy can have campaigns based on issues, not corporate funding. As Gore says in his interview in the latest "Rolling Stone":

"When enough unexplainable new phenomena pile up, there is sometimes a shift in consciousness that moves us quickly and suddenly to recognize a new pattern that explains all of these things that have been mysterious in the context of the old way of thinking. That's what we're on the cusp of right now."

Try the article at http://rollingstoneextras.com/rsdigitaledition/editionLg.php
and go to page 55 by way of the TOC button (Gore interview) Ignore the interviewer's opinion that Gore is not running.

There is an excellent analysis of what all this interview means at:

In The Assault on Reason, Gore already eloquently expressed this same idea, "our form of government is doomed if the current pattern of communication and citizen response continues."

We are the "new phenomena piling up". We are "the shift in consciousness that moves us quickly and suddenly".... The Draft Gore grass roots that just won't go away until our mission is accomplished: President Al Gore.

Gore is already in the race for 2008, we just have to see the pattern, and keep the faith.

Great post, Sue, and I mostly agree with you. I'm not sure I'd go so far as to say that he's already running, but I do believe that he's definitely still seriously considering it. That may seem odd to many at this late date, but truly, it's still not too late for him to get in, and I'm sure he knows that.

As Gandhi said: You must be the change you wish to see in the world.

He knows that. And we know that. ;)
