Texan for Gore - November 9, 2007 05:19 AM (GMT)
Done!! :good: That was a no-brainer!!
Gore's average rating is at 7. He is second only to J.K. Rowling whose average is 8.
Let's keep voting so we can get Al to where he belongs, in 1st place!!
JamesAquila - November 9, 2007 10:44 AM (GMT)
Gore's average is up to 8 but JK Rowling is still number one. Don't just vote for Gore as a 10. Vote for everyone else as a 1 to keep their averages down.

Actually, it's probably better not to vote for anyone else, especially Rowling! They are counting the # of votes too, and she's running away from the pack in that category. Last night she was only beating Gore by 3500 or so, but she's now pushing 20,000 votes, with Gore only pulling 11,000! Vote a 10 for Gore and only Gore to get his #s up!! They're staying tied basically in their rating - she's been a steady 8, but he's fluctuating at 7-8. All the others are holding at 6 or less.
earthmother - November 9, 2007 07:54 PM (GMT)
I'm sorry, but as big a phenomenon as the Harry Potter books are, I fail to see how this J.K. Rowling someone who has substantially affected the world we live in.
tkdveg - November 9, 2007 08:10 PM (GMT)
It must be all the kids who are voting for her, I guess.
They're all reading now at least, but it isn't "An Inconvenient Truth" obviously! :?:

Yeah but the rating is what is important. If everyone who votes for Gore then give her a 1 rating it will push her rating down.

Just voted and it only let me vote once, will try again later. I guess there are ten names on the list, gave the other nine a 1. Giving 0 doesn't seem to work. <_<

Giving zero seemed to work for me.
earthmother - November 10, 2007 05:44 AM (GMT)
Zero didn't work for me. And the instructions in small type underneath specifically say to select a number between 1 and 10.

too wierd

Drag the cursor to the ten, that is more favorable to Gore.
earthmother - November 10, 2007 04:11 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I think a lot of people may not realize that you have to move the slider to give a rating. They may just hit "submit" with the rating on the default of 5. :(

Reading this entire thread gives one much insight as to why the US is going down the tubes.
Harry Potter is more important than our nation.

I agree, it reminds me of my town, where people rather live in a fantasy world and ignore the important things. I know several people like this, they won't watch the news, the don't vote, they just don't give a damn. :bad:
mikeporter - November 11, 2007 02:17 PM (GMT)
The online poll does not decide the winner. The Time editors have the final say. Time's managing editor, Rick Stengel, polled his staff and found Gore to be the "runaway favorite."  :good: :good:
whybaby - November 11, 2007 06:11 PM (GMT)
You can go to zero - just move the wand down all the way to the left, and click submit. Whether you give J.K. Rowling a vote of zero, or skip voting for anyone else except Al Gore, I don't think it matters much. Actually, the main thing is to vote early and often for Our Hero. You can just hit the Refresh button and re-submit. Lather, rinse, repeat, repeat, repeat.
earthmother - November 11, 2007 06:17 PM (GMT)
Maybe some people can submit a zero, but I couldn't. The lowest I could submit was a 1.
Patsy - November 11, 2007 06:21 PM (GMT)
10 is more favorable to Gore.

ALGOREismylife - December 5, 2007 10:53 PM (GMT)
The TIME Person of the year is only a few weeks away. Will be in the Decmeber 31 issue of TIME on sale December 21. I hope I have a reason to buy the issue. AL GORE has to be the choice, the only choice. Hope they don't give it to J.K. Rowling.
I sure hope when the selection is made it's not another disappointment. <_<
ALGOREismylife - December 18, 2007 07:01 PM (GMT)
Isn't the Person of the year supposed be announced this week??? I haven't heard a thing and can't seem to get an answer. :?:
earthmother - December 18, 2007 08:11 PM (GMT)
It will be announced tomorrow morning (Wednesday) on The Today Show (NBC).
Go Al!
tkdveg - December 18, 2007 08:46 PM (GMT)
He's the Person of the Year no matter who Time chooses!!
No one on earth (literally) has accomplished more or been more influential this year! People work their entire life to achieve just a tiny fraction of what Gore has done this year alone!!
His accomplishments have been staggering, and that is reflected in the great respect he has earned throughout the world. His efforts are the counter-balance to the garbage that W has strewn all over the planet. He's keeping the rest of the world from totally giving up on the US.

Thanks, EM. It better be good news, sure could use some. AL GORE is not only the person of the year, he's the person of the decade.
And I agree with tkdveg, NO ONE has accomplished more than AL GORE and not just this year. Look at all the good he's done all over the world since he was denied what was rightfully his, November 7, 2000. And believe me the list of what AL GORE has accomplished and done to help others in the past seven years is a damn long one which no one can match and ever will.
There is only one AL GORE and the whole world knows it. Damn, we need this man as our president.
