Gore Grassroots Media Watch Group

Our mission statement:

"We believe we have to hold the media accountable for their lies, inaccuracies, and myths they continually perpetuate against Al Gore.

This group is a non-profit grassroots organization with no affiliation with Al Gore or any other private or public entity. It is composed of volunteers that have the same vision, 'Al Gore for President'.

In order to hold the media accountable, we will have to monitor the media and challenge their inaccurate reporting on Al Gore.

Mainstream Media
When journalists write articles related to Al Gore we have to determine if it is honest journalism. If not, it needs to be challenged in a professional and articulate manner. Each member will send an email to the appropriate personnel in the media organization refuting the inaccuracies in the article. If the journalist does not acknowledge our response, we will take the issue to the editor of the publication.

Internet Message Boards
There are shills on message boards that proliferate propaganda. They are there to represent and defend a viewpoint. They are playing to an uninformed audience. When the shills assert anti-Gore lies and myths, we have to engage the shills with logical, factual, unemotional responses. If we take these measures, the audience can discern the facts from the myths.

Antagonistic Websites
There is a disproportionate amount anti-Gore websites on the Internet. We will create a myth-debunking Gore website and ensure it is listed towards the top of all search engines. This website will refute and debunk the lies and myths perpetuated by the anti-Gore websites. This will give an uninformed user the opportunity to get the facts and then make a decision. There will be no rhetoric on the website in order to assure the reader there is no political agenda. Only the facts with supporting evidence debunking the Gore myths and lies.

Encouraging the Mainstream Media
We will write those in the mainstream media requesting that they write honest and fair articles regarding Al Gore. We will challenge them to do real journalism."

On that page, we combate the many lies and so called myths used by right wingers and the media. The Myths page is a response to pages like this: http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a38dbb84a2e85.htm

Do you inform your list through an email so that we can also reply to the media? Honestly, I don't often get to this forum, but I appreciate the information you send through emails. I think at one point you established an email list of people willing to respond to the media, but I don't know if that has continued.

Great work, here! Keep it up!

I don't know if this is acceptable or not, but I received the following:

********************************************
Here's some interesting information.

You can check this out on Snopes.com under "The Story of Two Houses"

House #1 A 20 room mansion ( not including 8 bathrooms ) heated by
natural gas. Add on a pool ( and a pool house) and a separate guest
house, all heated by gas. In one month this residence consumes more
energy than the average American household does in a year. The
average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2400. In
natural gas alone, this property consumes more than 20 times the
national average for an American home. This house is not situated
in a Northern or Midwestern "snow belt" area. It's in the South.

House #2 Designed by an architecture professor at a
leading national university. This house incorporates every
"green" feature current home construction can provide. The house is
4,000 square feet ( 4 bedrooms ) and is nestled on a high prairie in the
American southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermal
heat-pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the
ground. The water (usually 67 degrees F. ) heats the house in the winter
and cools it in the summer. The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or
natural gas and it consumes one-quarter electricity required for a
conventional heating/cooling system. Rainwater from the roof is collected
and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from
showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground purifying tanks and then
into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land
surrounding the house. Surrounding flowers and shrubs native to the area
enable the property to blend into the surrounding rural landscape.

~~~~~
HOUSE #1 is outside of Nashville, Tennessee; it is the abode of
the "environmentalist" Al Gore.
HOUSE #2 is on a ranch near Crawford,
Texas; it is the residence the of the President of the United States,
George W. Bush.
An "inconvenient truth".
*********************************
If this is true, it is somewhat disconcerting. Any comments?
Some will keep this myth going. Gore bought an old house, and he has made it as green as he can; solar panel and etc. How big is Bush's house? The GOP are so scared that he is going to run. Is this all that they can come up with?
