I just posted a long response to Obama imploring him to run with Gore for the Democratic nomination. I invite everyone here to go over to Current.com and show your support for a Gore run, and a Gore-Obama ticket. Time is running out.

Here is what I posted in response to Obama's viewpoint on the Iraq war:

"I respect Mr. Obama as well as Mr. Kucinich for opposing, like the late great Paul Wellstone, the war in Iraq. None of the other candidates will get my vote because of their failure to see the injustice (based on classic just war criteria) of pre-emptive war and its terrible consequences both for the people of Iraq and for America's reputation in the world. Unfortunately, neither Obama nor Kucinich have built campaigns that stand a chance against Hillary Clinton, whose foreign policy judgments continue to be dismal. Our only hope to get out of Iraq is to have a fiercely anti-war candidate who can win the nomination, and who has the international stature to fix the mess in Iraq.

The latest poll from CBS has Clinton with 37 percent, Gore with 32 percent, and Obama with 16 percent. Gore has the money, the experience, and the good judgment to beat Clinton. If Gore was to get in the race and combine his campaign with Obama's (as a presidential-vice presidential team), they would be able to beat the Clinton political machine. That would be unusual, but the usual ways of politics are no longer acceptable.

Please, Mr. Obama, recognize that the future of this country is more important than the slim chance that you could come from far behind and beat Clinton at the last minute. This is far bigger than you. Tell Al Gore you will back him if he gets into the presidential race and combine your compaign with his so that we can have truly progressive, truly visionary leadership for the next sixteen years. It is in your best interest and the country's best interest and the world's best interest for Gore to be the democratic nominee for president in 2008, and for you to be his vice president and successor.

Gore-Obama 2008: It is the only way to beat the Clintons and the Republicans. It is the only way for us to get real change in this country, in a defining moment for our democracy. Surely you must understand this by now.

You are in my prayers, Sir."

I don't think it wise to suggest running mates or cabinet appointees or anything else, like Supreme Court appointees, to Gore. Either he runs as a totally free agent--able to pick all his associates this time, or he doesn't
