Well, it seems that Donna Brazile is taking a much-needed breather from hurting, enraging, shocking, outraging and alienating the four-million-plus registered Democratic voters of Florida by writing such infuriating witless wonders as "Why We Stood Up to Florida", and has now moved on to infuriating Al Gore supporters. Since I happen to be both a Florida Democrat AND an Al Gore supporter, color me mightily infuriated with this supreme IDIOT!!!!!!!! I mean, I know that I sound harsh and I know that she is a kindred spirit in admiring and supporting Gore, but first I had to deal with the SHOCK and incredulity of how she, Dean and the DNC have treated Florida and now, well, read on. Her latest musings are linked here:
http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2007/oct/24/its-all-up-to-gore/She's basically saying that we should all forget about trying to convince Al Gore to run for president and just sit back and support him in what he does as a private citizen. Well, last time I checked, it wasn't an "either/or" proposition. I do greatly admire and support what Al Gore has achieved as Private Citizen Gore, and I will continue to do so. AND I also think that it is imperative that he run for president, for leader of the free world, so that, among other things, he can be in a unique position of power to lead the world into greener days, thus turning the situation of global climate change around before it is too late, if it is not already too late. There is no luxury of time. We can't wait four more years or eight more years or ANY more years. We need Al Gore to run for president of the United States of America, for leader of the free world, right NOW. Yes, we need to continue to support him in his amazing efforts and accomplishments outside of office. But we also need to convince him that the world needs his leadership now as president. For example--and this is just one example--NONE of the current field of candidates in any party has fuel efficiency standards for automobiles that start soon enough. Only Edwards and Dodd have any at all and they wouldn't go into effect ontil 2016 or 2017. Not soon enough! If Gore were president, you can bet new fuel efficiency standards would go into effect as soon as humanly possible, two model years, max.
If Donna Brazile doesn't choose to urge Gore to run for president, fine. Then shut up about it and back Hillary, as I've heard her state ages ago on "This Week" with George Stephanopoulos that she does (quote "Hillary is my girl!"), but do
NOT tell the rest of us that we shouldn't urge Gore to run. I will urge him to run if I dang well want to urge him to run. And I dang well want to:
Run, Al, for the love of the planet, RUN!
