Truly disappointing. I comend everyone who put forth any bit of effort toward this cause. The only silver lining --I hope I do not misquote Ian -- is that the Michigan delegates are not instrumental in the nomination. That does not make this pill much easier to swallow. I am starting to question, as much as I do not want to, the integrity of....I do not want to go there. It just seems absoluetely implausible that he is not aware of our efforts, and yet he choses to give us no CLEAR instructions. I am at a loss. This much I am certain of: if he leaves us at the alter this time, Hell will freeze over before I come crawling back in four years. I will be done if he fails us this time. Never again.

I really feel for those plucky Michiganders. All hail to Bob Alexander and Doug Kelley. Their task was nigh to impossible. What a schedule! It was too many signatures over too little time. So hostile to grassroots efforts, I think of it as almost equivalent to voter suppression! My hope for them is that because the whole Michigan situation is so screwed up what with candidates dropping out, they'll have to extend the date of the primary, and hopefully the nominating process. One can only hope.

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone associated with the
Michigan effort.

Hillary and Bill own the party. What part of they will not allow any challengers if they can help it do you not see?

They did not want Al winning in 2000 and did not help during the recount
They did not allow Al to run in 2004, with the edict no money is forethcoming if he ran
They made sure Kerry lost

They left the plate open for Hillary to run a run with no competition

I am convinced Edwards is part of her plan, which is why he stays in the race, to block those points from going elsewhere

She and Bill have and always have made sure to own the party
Terry McAuliffe is going around saying it is inevitable

It will be 3rd party or not at all (and even that will run into every single sort of challange to those ballots too, let alone allowing debate time).

Write in votes? Those votes are afterthoughts, and alot of districts don't even count those votes(illegal? Sure, but so was 2000 and 2004).

This is not as simple as people saying and that thought being allowed to count...

At least the people tried in MIchigan...that is the American way-to try and not have it happen is 100times better than to not try at all.Congrats on trying.

btw-Hillary will win 99 percent of those delegates now, as Obama and Edwards are not going to appear on the ballot. Win-hillary(again, she got it fixed just as bad as Bush fixed it in 2000).

I would have worded that press release with more positive spin so that it wasn't called a failure. I'm going to amend the title of this thread, at least, so it doesn't reflect that. It wasn't a failure. The effort was dropped prematurely because they're going to have caucuses rather than a primary. It really isn't important if they would have succeeded in the allotted time. What should be stressed is that the effort was stopped because it was no longer necessary.

Unfortunate bad press as a result of this press release, but it's already out, and it can't be taken back.

My hat's off to all in Michigan who worked so hard to try to make this happen. Hopefully they'll be able to get out now and campaign ahead of the caucuses.

 Great work in Michigan! A valiant effort to say the least!

Let's not forget, however, that there are many other states currently working on compiling enough signatures to have Gore added to the primary ballots. And as skewed as things have become in Michigan, with other major contenders not on the ballot either and the whole caucus vs. primary issue, clearly it won't make or break anyone, including Gore!

Also, there are states which will likely be able to get him on the ballot, such as California. They only need signatures, not the 'approval' of Gore, in order to be successful, and they have amassed a great number of eager volunteers who are well on their way to that success! Other states don't require many signatures (relative to the numbers needed in some other states) and will likely have that accomplished fairly quickly. One step back, but two steps forward! Now is not the time for doubt!

Our goal is to prove to Mr. Gore that we ARE serious, we ARE dedicated, and we ARE willing to go to the mat for him! If we show him that our intentions are pure, our hearts true, and our total support is with him, he will answer our call to duty as we are answering his.

"We must go far, quickly."
