Title: Gore campaign co-chair endorses Richardson
Description: Another sign Gore is not running
Jonathan Pollard - October 22, 2007 02:38 PM (GMT)
http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_st...bassador_an.htmThe Co-Chair of the 1988 Al Gore for President campaign has endorsed Richardson. I doubt he would have done so if there was any chance that Gore would run.

We know Gore is not running right now, but that he has not absolutely ruled it out in the future. The point is to persuade him to change his mind and enter the race. Your defeatist attitude is not helping.

By the way, Gore-Richardson ticket would be a great ticket. Gore could probably cut a deal with him to be VP if Gore enters the race.

WHY are you here?

Gore seems to be guiet lately, and his daughter, Karenna, is picking up his Quill Award. Do you think he is planning his announcement? All we can do is hope.

He's probably at the mall trying on RUNNING SHOES!
"Just Do It", Al
The drought is over!! Literally if not figuratively. It's rained more today than in the past 4-5 months put together....and continues to do so.

1988 co-chair? That doesn't hold much sway with me. Now, if Roy Neel were to endorse someone else, then the fat lady will have sung.

Amen. :o

Dumb question - who is Roy Neel?
earthmother - October 23, 2007 02:51 AM (GMT)
Roy Neel has been with Gore for decades. I believe he started out as a member of Gore's congressional staff back in the '70s. He was Chief of Staff in Gore's Senate office, and then became his Vice Presidential Chief of Staff. He also worked for Clinton in the later years of the Clinton/Gore administration.
Neel worked with Gore in the 2000 election campaign. He pursued work in the private sector after the 2000 debacle.
Many people speculated that something was afoot last year when Neel was rehired by Gore to work on the climate-change campaign. His move back to Nashville sparked a lot of speculation about whether this meant Gore was thinking about running. Neel remains in Nashville, ready at a moment's notice to take over the campaign should Gore decide to run. Of course, it's entirely possible that he really is just there to oversee the climate-change campaign. But either way, if Neel endorses someone else, we in this campaign are cooked.

Agree EM...that's a personal endorsement.

EARTH MOTHER, IAN OR SOMEONE ELSE, eliminating the third party scenario, what, in your opinion, is the absolute last date Gore could enter and still allow for enough time to be competitive in enough states and get on enough ballots to win?
earthmother - October 23, 2007 01:00 PM (GMT)
I've heard credible people say he could get in as late as February.
I'm not one of them.

Clooney picked over Al Gore for renewable energies co board....
http://www.forbes.com/markets/feeds/afx/20...afx4243939.htmlWhy?
But Gore -- who was awarded the Nobel Prize for his environmental campaigning efforts -- was dropped as it was feared that he could run for the US presidency.
So Clooney knows...

The Democratic race will be over Feb.5
How possibly could he get in after that and secure the nomination?
Delegates are permanent. Do you really think HIllary will give up HER DELEGATES
The rules were changed after Ted Kennedy thought he could steal Jimmy Carter's after Ted's ignoble defeat in 1980 (when Ted should not have run)...
Unless Edwards and Obama quit soon, this race is over.
Edwards won't have many delegates anyhow, but he stops Obama
Nearly 1/3 or more of the country(depending on final dates for primaries) will have voted by February, and by then, almost all important primaries would end their deadlines
And if Roy Neel backed someone tomorrow, most people here would just say it means nothing anyhow... one can find meaning anyway they want
(Sort of like Chance the Gardner in Being There)

I disagree, ReelectGore (not with the February part--I said I wasn't one of those saying that).
But I disagree that we can read anything into anything. We've done the best we can to navigate through these turbulent waters. If Gore's message had always been consistent (I have no intentions of running), then I think we'd take him at his word. But to add that he hasn't ruled it out, well, what else can we think?
DFA is going to push him to get an answer. We should know by early November.
