So-called liberals are trying to stop Gore from running; an update of the previous Vanity Fair Article on the same topic....

On Pro-Gore sites, it's been mentioned time and time again about the mainstream media opposition to Gore's Candidacy. We already know the Right Wing's smear campaign against him from Fox News to John Stossel.
But, what about the Left side? Some familiar names come up that have tried in the past to portray Gore in a negative manner. Funny thing, I am seeing these same “Beltway” people (some of them now clearly “Hillary Water Carriers”) that spoke up against him in 2000 and 2004. Unfortunately, they are also the “talking heads” that get the spotlight on TV.

Very much like the RNC distributes their talking points, it looks like the DLC has been at it too. Examples;

"The Democrats are pleased with the candidates they have"

"Why would Gore want to leave the great life he now has?"

"The polls don't show the public wanting him to get back in" (of course they use the one conservative Gallup Poll and neglect the positive ones showing Gore support)

So....The Nominees for this Year's Maureen Dowd Award include;

PETER FENN, The Hill

MARK GREEN, Air America CEO

ROGER SIMON, Politico

LAWRENCE O'DONNELL, Huffington Post (my personal favorite)

RICHARD WOLFFE, Newsweek

MORT ZUCKERMAN, U.S World News Report

(Of course this award is named after the NY Times Columnist who went after Gore in her "hit piece" in the 2000 Election. In all fairness, she has been somewhat muted along with Chris Matthews with MSNBC this time around).

You can add Jake Tapper of ABC News to that list.
