Title: Global warming debate

When Al Gore ran for president, he was expected to debate his opponent to show his knowledge about the issues. He had no problem doing so. So why is he afraid to debate those with opposing views about global warming???? Makes ME wonder.
Let's not waste our time debating global warming deniers -- Wayne

Should he also debate people that believe the Earth is flat or those who believe the moon landings were faked?
Why should he give credibility to people who deny scientific fact?

These arguments are so tiresome.
Al Gore is not required to debate anyone, nor is he required to live in a pup tent.
He has been a messenger, bringing information to the public eye in hopes it will be acted upon. That does not make him somehow responsible for the problem, nor responsible to solve it. Attacking him personally for any and every perceived shortcoming is a huge waste of energy and time.
Instead of quarreling over him personally, those who deny the danger should be quarreling with the scientists who report the facts. And I don't mean parroting the inanities of a judge in England - I mean tackle the freaking facts - if you think you can.
Go find photographic evidence that the Arctic Ice melt has [em]not[/em] accelerated beyond the most dire of predictions. Go find evidence that walruses are not setting up housekeeping on land for want of sea ice.
Come up with actual scientific evidence to prove that the predictions of sealevel rise are wrong. Not just pooh-poohing and claiming all the scientists are crazy - come up with a shred of real evidence to counter the warnings.
And then write a letter to your great-grandchildren, bragging about how you prevailed in squelching the warnings, seal it to be opened fifty years in the future. Let them see what you did to save their world.

Thought I'd link to my post in another thread with an essay explaining global warming issues:

Why don't you make it an original post? It is quite good, and should not be buried away in that silly "how strange" thread.

Scientists have already debated it. The debate is over.
No amount of disputing it from deniers can alter the truth. Makes ME wonder why you think scientists were "afraid" to debate it when they already did and why you DENY their consensus.
IT'S OVER, IT'S ALL OVER.
