Great news. If Al ran, it would change everything. But we've got to convince him of it. The next two weeks are really crucial. Most of the pundits are saying he won't do it, he shouldn't do it. Politics as usual, establishment A-Holes, all of them.
Prove them wrong, Al. We need inspirational leadership and we need it now. Run, Al, run!!!

The link is still good at 12:38 PM Pacific Time. These great results are close to those from the AOL poll a couple days ago before the Nobel Prize announcement.

now 163000 plus, same results spread
of note: in the "who would you vote for 24% say "none of the above"
I would assume that is the same population segment that still thinks bush is doing a good job, and will vote for rudy or freddy or an old yaller dog as long as it has an "r" next to its name.
So assume most of them responded that AG should not run (they don't want the even better competition) and you have even more dramatic results. deduct them from the 37% who say he should not get in and you end up with 13% of sane people saying no, 4% unsure, and 83% saying yes.
That matches up pretty well with the "who would you vote for" - add up all the non-gore and it is about 22%. So some of the ones saying he "should jump in" are saying they'd still vote for their candidate. I expect most in that category know their candidate won't win, want Gore to take it away from the current leader(s), but would still vote for Dennis or whomever on principle.
Looks to me like AG would win the general election by the biggest landslide in history - by FAR!

Fantastic! 54%! This has got to be a pivotal moment in his consideration for entering the race IMO. This powerful laurel could be seen as a mandate to act decisively for one's country. If he doesn't enter in the next month or so, I don't think he is likely to at all. The Nobel prize is the finishing touch -an emblem if you will, on the idea of a Gore candidacy. What's he waiting for after an honor such as this? But really, this is all great news indeed!

To those polling experts and people far smarter than me, how does this poll vary from the ones we've been seeing all along that show Gore lower than that, some as low as 10%? Is it that this poll actually assumes that he is in the race while previous ones phrase the questions as, "Who is your preferred candidate?" At any rate, this is great news and encourages me far more than a Dailykos or other less representative polling entity's poll would. MSNBC polls a fair cross section.
Now, how can we convince this amazing man to run? I undestand his fears, that if he runs and loses he would somehow diminish his work on the climate crisis. Sometimes you have to just throw caution to the wind and say, "what the heck?" No one remembers Michael Jordan as a Washington Wizard.

Did anyone read today someone close to Gore predicting he will run? We heard those like us hoping and praying he will but lacking any word one way or the other. We heard people close to him saying that he will not run or that he would like to but will not for any number of reasons. Is there anyone out there close to him who has provided some fodder for hope? Please!
EARTH MOTHER TO THE RESCUE?? WHAT HAVE YOU HEARD? AREN'T YOU A PSYCHIC AS WELL AS A GREAT PERSON? :)

Online polls are disproportionately influenced by political activists. Every single online poll about GOP preferences that I've seen shows Ron Paul in the lead. Your typical soccer/security mom who reflexively would pick Giuliani simply would not bother to participate in an online poll.
