Title: Republicans for Al Gore
txcowrancher - October 11, 2007 11:10 PM (GMT)
Howdy from Texas. My wife and I are both republicans who now have come to regret our vote for President Bush. While we supported the killing of the Sadam gang, the idea of bringing freedom to muslim nations has proven to be a plan that does not and will not work. They seem to prefer killing each other and us. The current crop of candidates for president is pathetic on both sides. Many of Ron Pauls ideas are correct especially the non-intervention concept, ie: Switzerland, however the man comes off a bit like a nut case.
What we need is a statesman who could be above the partisan politics that we see everyday. I think that Al Gore could be that man. There is no reason that the environment or energy policy should be a democrat issue. Many, many republicans are ready for a change, but we will never vote for Hillary or Obama.
I wish that Al Gore would run as an idependant, how bout the green party ?? Now I know that will not happen, although he could be the one who could pull it off. The country would be so much better off with a third party.
Since that won't happen and he would run as a democrat. Many of us will support him anyway as a democrat, just get rid of that moveon.org garbage, and step up to lead the country into a new age of environment and energy policy, without the political fighting and maybe we can mind our own business a little better and bring our troops home from over 100 different countries. Whats up with that anyway !!!
ps. We have just reserved a new website that is not yet up and running, its
www.republicansforgore.com and .org
stop the political fighting and Have Mr. Gore become a president for all of us.

Welcome fellow Texan. Your website sounds like it will be good. Yes, Al Gore is definitely a candidate for all parties. He has felt strongly against the war in the beginning and he cares for our Country as well as the Earth. There is no one else I want to be President.
And things are starting to get exciting around here after the draft gore newspaper ad. We are hoping we will hear something positive from Gore soon. That would be the best news I've heard in a loong time!!

From the looks of some of the comments by the signatures on DraftGore.com, you're going to have some pretty busy websites. Lots of Republicans seem to be pulling for Gore.
Glad to have you with us.

Welcome!
Your post is a breath of fresh air.
Looking for someone to set things right rather than just checking the R or D box is what democracy is supposed to be all about. It's fine to be an Aggie or a Longhorn til the death, but when it comes to love of country and what's best for the population as a whole, it's better to set aside labels and look for quality. If I needed major surgery, I'd not care whether the surgeon was an Aggie or a Longhorn; I'd want to know he'd do the right thing.
It is a shame, in my opinion, that the once-great GOP (both my grandfathers were staunch Republicans; they'd roll over in their graves if they knew I'd ever voted for a dem) was co-opted by what I consider a cabal, who are using it as a front for their behind-the-scenes maneuvering to enrich themselves. A lot of loyal Republican rank-and-file have been hoodwinked. The cabal treats them as just a bunch of dummies that they can manipulate into voting for them - the faith-based-initiative scam is a perfect example.
It just might be that Al Gore can rise above all of that, that we can reunite as the United States of America, (not the red ones and blue ones) and regain a position of world leadership and respect.
