Fascinating...I had said a while ago that I bet the Nobel Committee lets the winners know a day or so in advance so they can attend if they would like. Does this mean (imply) that Al indeed has won?

by the way this morning the count of petition signatures was 153, 145. Amazing still!

Gore went to a global warming conference in Belgrade. Of course, if he does get the prize, a global warming conference is a good place to be when the announcement comes.

[EDIT] The latest news indicates that Gore cancelled his overseas trip and will be at the Barbara Boxer fundraiser. Maybe word leaked out that he's not winning the Nobel prize.

Here is the off and on of it:

Carla Marinucci: UPDATE - Gore cancels appearance at Boxer fundraiser
Sen. Barbara Boxer's office just contacted us to say former Vice President Al Gore has been called "overseas" for a trip related to his work on global warming and has canceled his scheduled appearance Thursday in San Francisco at a fundraiser for Boxer's re-election effort. So the Boxer fundraiser -- which was to include Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Browne -- is off until Nov. 9.

Here's a note Boxer sent supporters about the change:

I just got a call from Vice President Al Gore. He told me that he needs to travel abroad tomorrow for an exciting and urgent mission that could result in a major breakthrough in the fight against global warming.

Unfortunately, this means that we must postpone our Thursday, October 11th event with him until Friday, November 9th. I wanted to be sure to e-mail you tonight in case you were planning on attending.

While I am really disappointed that we won't see Al Gore until next month, I am thrilled that he is continuing to provide critical leadership to address one of the most pressing issues of our time. You should know that only the most urgent global warming mission has called him out of the country.

I look forward to seeing you on November 9th so we can all hear first-hand about Al Gore's latest exciting initiatives. We will be back in touch in the coming days with more details about the rescheduled event.

Thank you so much for your continued friendship and support!

Barbara Boxer

Email at 11:31 am from Boxer says event is back on:

"Good News: Tonight's rally with Vice President Al Gore is back on! His trip to China to address government leaders there about global warming has been postponed, so fortunately he can now join us today in San Francisco."

What's next??? :?:

I don't know, but the roller coaster now seems to be moving faster.

Yes, faster and faster! We're building to a crescendo, which is exactly what we'd hoped would happen!

We're getting calls from Newsweek*, Reuters, CBS, ABC, and more! It's so exciting!

Hang on for the ride of your life! It won't be long now!

* Newsweek apparently wants to do a follow-up story on the Nobel. I've been told to expect a call in the morning. I just hope he gets the prize!

Ben Smith at Politico.com is reporting that Al Gore has overtaken Barack Obama on the InTrade political futures market.

Well, Hillary said something about Gore on Countdown tonight and Keith cut her off mid sentence to keep us tuned in. I chose to watch Survivor instead (I can't help it, I like the scenery) since I can catch the repeat at 11:00, (that's in about 40 minutes.)

Earth Mother, bring us home! There is no one here whsoe coments put more minds at ease than yours. I am sure you saw Gore's assistant Neel's cmments; they were awfully equivocal, far more than I have heard out of his office in the past.

This on/off trip is baffling

Almost sounds like a dirty Clintonlike campaign smear or something
Very odd.

It can be read many ways
Good/Bad/meaningless

I can spin it myself each way

Oye vey!

I don't like that drudge almost seems to be cheerleading...something fishy there, are they setting it up for a fall?
