Title: Going to Gore in Chicago 10/17
Description: First appearance after Nobel

AlGoreFan - October 10, 2007 01:19 AM (GMT)
So I'm going to join up with other Gore supporters and demonstrate when Al comes to Chicago for his first appearance after the Nobel Peace Prize is announced.

Some of us have ponied up cash to get a bicycle billboard to go up and down the area and they asked me to design the 4'x5' image. There being few images of high enough resolution of Al, I called his office and requested some. They have none. So I went to Getty Photos online and bought one ($95). Here's my first pass at the billboard:

What do you think? Any other wording suggestions?

Or is it better with less words:

:good: :good: Two thumbs up!

The first one. :good:

The second one makes it seem like he's already running. Believe me, a lot of people really don't know the difference.

What about putting the petition web site on it?

Thing is, he might announce that night. The petition won't really matter much by 10/17.

Ralph, you D.O.G. you!

I like it. How about 'Al Gore 2008 -- An American President', 'Al Gore 2008 -- Liberty an Justice', or 'Al Gore 2008 -- Bring Back Democracy' ? What does everyone think? The photo is good but I would go for a little less red under the eyes and above the lips, a smile, and probably go with a little less resolution.

Chicago Rocks :elvis: You had such an outstanding book signing for 'The Assault on Reason' :turtle:

Actually Wayne, the photo colors were unchanged. That's how he looked. I can take some red out though:

Better?

What do you mean by resolution? I'll whip a few more up.

Thanks Singh etc. for the idea, he makes the Chicago events GO!

I like the coloring in the top pictures. The one below looks a little "ashen". I also like the wording Al Gore 2008. I can't wait to hear all about it.

Interesting...

I like the first picture too. The one with the red taken out makes him look pale. I would keep the "Run, Al run" in it too, unless he has declared by then.

Those two comparison pictures are interesting. He has definitely aged like fine wine....just keeps getting better!!

AlGoreFan,

What a wonderful thing to do! I'm glad you have a photo from the present, rather than ones from a decade ago. I agree with what's been said, that the altered photo (without the red) looks pale and sickly.

If you are open to other photo ideas, there are some wonderful ones of Our Hero walking in nature. There's one in particular of him walking by his nearby river, holding a stick in his hand, slightly windblown, wearing denim, I think.

I prefer going without Run Al Run.

Here's one I've been playing with for my own home-made bumper sticker - though it may be a bit long for your purposes -

"Back By Popular Demand - President Gore"

Good job, good luck, and let us know how it goes on the 17th! :good:

The first two were chosen, one for each side of the mobile billboard (and they are backlit!).

If I may be so bold as to add my 2 cents on this:

I think this is great overall, but I would make the photo of Al smaller and the words larger. The wording, regardless of what you put, seems to be getting lost a bit as the picture is so big. That might also help some with the redness, and we know it's Al, no question about who it is. We don't need to see all the lines on his handsome face, just enough for character. The real message is in the wording, so I would make them bigger.

Well done and thanks!

I agree with making the image of Gore smaller. It's too overwhelming, especially as a close up, to be that large on the poster.

My 2 cents? I'd find a shot of him looking at something or looking slightly up, place that beside an American flag and a world globe shot, so that Gore is looking at it with something like:

"For America

For the World"

Al Gore
