Did anyone else receive this email today? It is from Live Earth and they are encouraging/askig everyone to register to vote? It was talking about how it is important to vote at the "state" levels because many states are beginning to take more action against global warming than at the federal level. However, when you click on the link to register to vote, it says Live Earth has partnered with Rock the Vote to get people to register online. It's also interesting that they have in a box:
"It used to be that if you didn't vote on election day, it wasn't the end of the world. Now, it just might be." Or something to that effect.
I thought this email was intriguing. I realize they are trying to make the connection between the importance of voting and the climate crisis, but I can't help but feel there is more to it!!!! :Y: What do you guys think?
IMO, everything Gore is doing right now is pointing towards some kind of deeper engagement in the political sphere -- either through an endorsement of one of the current candidates (in which case he becomes the top choice for VP if that candidate is nominated) or some kind of grass-roots mobilization to make the climate crisis more of an issue in the presidential race or or a run himself. Whether he runs or not, Gore and his folks want to make a concrete difference. And there is alot at stake in this election.
