Title: What We've All Been Waiting For

Thank You John!

Story Updated. If I were Al Gore, I'd want to be President...

I would love to be able to give this speech, but you don't even know my real name, nor will I tell it to you now. There are very few people who could give a speech like this one, in fact, and, alas, I am not one of them. If I said these things I'd be lying, for I have traveled little this past year. But this is what I would like to hear Al Gore say. He could say it all, and it would be the truth:

Good Evening.

I am running for President of our great nation.

I have been running a carefully orchestrated campaign, an unconventional campaign, to be the next President of the United States in 2009. I have been running for the past three-and-a-half years. But I wasn't absolutely certain of that until I won the Nobel Peace Prize. Then I had a very short gleeful conversation with my wife, Tipper, who was absolutely delighted, of course, and she asked me if now was the right time.

Tipper has never asked me this question with as much concern as I saw in her eyes. I knew what she was asking me about, and I just said, "Yes, and I know just where to start. I will be fighting harder than I have ever fought for anything in my life, for it is the entire planet Earth in the balance."

"Tipper," I said, "This is a time for a radical change."

ezdidit's diary :: ::
I have traveled more than 250,000 miles, around the world 10 times. I have met with hundreds of world leaders, bankers, corporate CEO's, and just plain folks who are doing extraordinary things like many of you; I have met ordinary people who are just struggling to live paycheck to paycheck, hand to mouth, like most of you. I have met barefoot, impoverished farmers so as to fully understand poverty and the will to survive; I have met men and women who are so personally wealthy that they need huge teams of people hired to spend and invest their money for them.

This is a time for change....in every element of human endeavor the world over, from shoveling a bit of earth to plant a seedling, to changing a light bulb, to administering an illegitimate war for oil that we dare not burn in the Middle East, a war that has ravaged millions, left our treasury in bankruptcy, placed our military in a shambles and our Constitution and Bill of Rights in tatters. These are matters that must be changed and changed immediately for our nation is at risk.

Our security as a nation and this world's security for the future is in grave jeopardy. This is a time for radical change.

We are all specks of life on a very small planet that has been insulted and abused, and now fatally injured through misguided short-term thinking, ambition and injurious public policy the world over! And we have run this Earth ragged for over a hundred-fifty years. No one in this complex and difficult world is to blame for the state of our earth's condition. But we are now all responsible for its future. This is a time and place for the most extraordinary changes that have ever faced all mankind. This is indeed a time for change.

We who are here today will likely not live to see the most damaging aspects of our misguided national and international policies and how they are destroying our Earth day by day. Like a frog in a pot brought to boil very slowly, we have become too weak to jump out for our very lives. In order to guarantee our future as a species and for our progeny, for generations yet unborn, these policies must be changed.

Urgent matters must be addressed globally and immediately. We ought to snuff out every single form of CO2 pollution today, but let me speak to you of the extraordinary opportunities that this climate crisis brings us.

I have made my platform of Solutions clear. I have published it for free on the Internet as an html display or for download, and as a .pdf file. There is no charge whatsoever to read or print this campaign contract document. Those of you who can, please download it, print it out and distribute it widely. It is available in over 100 languages, in Braille and as an audio book.

I will be traveling this nation for the next twelve weeks to meet and shake hands with as many of you as I can in forums here in the United States, and I will answer your questions about specific policies and pragmatic solutions to the problems that we face within our nation and globally.

I will not be participating in debates which allow for ten-word answers to terribly complex questions that you have. The voters deserve explanations and firm policy proposals that make sense. For this reason I will be holding large live forums where you can ask questions and I will be able to answer them directly and affirmatively.

I wish my opponents well. They will campaign for your votes in many ways. I urge you to listen carefully to them and to me. I will address the concerns of our nation's citizens as I feel one should. I will see you face to face and answer one question at a time. I invite the Democratic contenders to participate in fair and democratic open-ended forums on public policies that make sense. Not in media-sponsored showcases.

C-SPAN will provide complete and unedited transcripts and live video feeds, but I will warn the media here and now that these will be off-limits for editing for sound bites and replay or misuse in part other than whole and complete replay or republication of complete transcripts. The rules for our irresponsible media must be changed.

The American people and the people of our great, good Earth deserve an explanation of what the richest, most powerful nation on earth can and will do next, and that's going to radically change, too.

This an opportunity for change to enhance stakeholder value for all of the Earth's people, and I will not let this opportunity go by without the historic fight that must be fought for our planet and for the people of this planet as the President of its most advanced and powerful nation.

May the God of your understanding bless you and keep you. Good night.

In my opinion, running after getting the Nobel Prize would be a bad idea because it would appear that he would be using the prize for political gain. Better to declare his candidacy before the prize is awarded.

Thinking the Noble is a given is a mistake
Most people who win, the general public never heard of, and they could always say next year.

And some think if he gets the prize, it is a sure sign he will NOT run

I kind of wish he wasn't even nominated for it at the present time because it seems to complicate matters.

Gore should working towards that Tony Award instead to complete the trifecta. ;)

Come on now, don't be nervous ninnies. :( It's a great honor to be nominated for the Nobel Prize. Anyway, I like 10-10-2007 ;)
