“Swear him in.” That’s all I said in the unusual silence this afternoon as first aid was being administered to Gen. David Petraeus’s microphone at the hearing before the House Armed Services and Foreign Affairs Committees.
It had dawned on me that when House Armed Services Committee Chairman Ike Skelton, D-Missouri, invited Gen. Petraeus to make his presentation, Skelton forgot to ask him to take the customary oath to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. I had no idea that would be enough to get me thrown out of the hearing. (Ray McGovern, an Army infantry/intelligence officer in the early sixties and then a CIA analyst from 1963 to 1990. He had a front-seat for the charades orchestrated by Westmoreland in Vietnam.)
Can anyone on this forum recall a member of the Bush Administration or a cohort of his ever being sworn in before testifying before Congress? Can anyone recall Bush saying he would allow anyone to go before Congress if they were required to be sworn in to tell the truth? So can anyone trust what they have said to be the truth. Many including the ex A.G. and Rice have already been caught in lies.
