Title: The ReElectAlGore2008 v. JamesAquila Thread
Description: Will/Should Gore run as VP?

Here you go you two. Instead of infecting other threads just have it out right here for all of us to see (and not see).

funny.

Actually, we should all seriously consider the option, IF Al Gore does not run
We could then have a function here for the next 8 months after (whatever date is going to be the date of decision)

I am sure James and I both want Al Gore to enter the race, become president and change the course of history

My point is only IF he doesn't go for it

Maybe we should take a quick poll here, now and then a month or two from now and see how people think about this issue

Do we want Al to have an elected voice? Or not? Is #2 better than no position of power (remember how powerful Cheney is)?

I think if Al does not run, he may, as he said, "re-enter politics" again as the VP of Obama or Edwards on the supposition that:
(1) He endorses Obama or Edwards
(2) Obama or Edwards wins the primary.

Why? Because Gore may not want to run another presidential race but may still want to be politically involved again. A VP spot would also make him front-runner in another eight years for president. By 2016, nobody will any longer be doubting the seriousness of the climate crisis and Gore would win in a landslide.

Still, I think he is going to run. He's waiting because he can. He knows how important the next eight years will be for the issues he cares most deeply about, and he knows he is better qualified for the job than everyone else in the race. If he was not considering running, he would have issued a Sherman statement and had his staff inform the DraftGore movement to cut it out.

Whatever happened to the request to mail 2 cents to the Gore address?
Does anyone know how much he received?
