Yesterday, DNC chair Howard Dean addressed the National Baptist Convention:
http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/show/ne...se,173124.shtmlHe uttered these wonderful remarks, among others:
"At the DNC we are working to make sure that your votes are counted."Hmmmm, working to make sure that my vote is counted...that's funny. See, because I could have sworn that, for the past week or so, I've been having a complete and total nervous breakdown due to Dean and the DNC deciding to strip four million registered Democrats in the state of Florida of our delegates to the party's national nominating convention in 2008. Is that what he means by ensuring that my vote is counted?
If Gore enters the race, I am pretty sure that Howard Dean, who Gore endorsed in 2004, will ensure that those votes in Florida will be counted, or every Democrat in Florida will take to the streets!

I'm aware of how furious Florida Democrats are. That's probably exactly what the Republicans wanted to see happen. I think it is going to work out - the nominee is going to seat delegates from every State at the August convention. ;)
Howard Dean is not a teddy bear :o He will say things that make people mad. We saw how that can be a good thing in 2001, 2002, and 2003 when so many Americans were afraid to criticize George W. Bush and Dean was the first to really do it and make it stick. Remember now that Al Gore did endorse Dean to be president. Have a little faith in Al Gore's judgment.
Here in Washington State we have a presidential primary. None of the Democratic votes in that primary select delegates to the convention. All the delegates from Washington are selected by a Party Caucus or State Convention. That may not be the best system but it's perfectly legal. We've never had our primary votes count. Florida can live with a caucus for one year until this gets resolved.

I know they are delighted, but I don't think they planned it. They aren't smart enough to have planned this. And as much as they hate us Democrats, I'm sure even they could not have guessed/fathomed that the DNC could be STUPID enough to CHOOSE to alienate and discount millions of voters in Florida and Michigan. No one could have predicted the depths of Howard Dean's idiocy. And yes, I take into account that my hero, Al Gore, did endorse him. He endorsed him because, at the time, Dean was the ONLY candidate speaking out against the Iraq war. Or at least, I think that is the main reason he endorsed him. And trust me, I did take that into deep account and, at that time, I tried to get past my BAD impression of Howard Dean. I tried very hard, basedly solely on the weight I give to an Al Gore endorsement. And, for a while, I reached a place at which I could tolerate Dean. But now? HE HAS TO GO AND GO FAR AND STAY GONE! Ditto for Donna "I've sent a message to everyone in Florida" Brazile. Buh-bye! You are GONE! SEE ya! Pack it up, soup nazi. NEXT!

Wayne, no offense, because this is nothing personal and I love the thoughtful and intelligent way you debate me on this whole issue, but that particular statement is one I've heard a lot from many people on this and it just infuriates me! If there is already a presumptive nominee by the time of the convention, who CARES if s/he seats the Florida and Michigan delegates?! The nomination, in that scenario, is already decided! Why we need our delegates is in case there is a brokered convention! What IF Gore gets into the race, for example? You can bet your sweet bippee (spelling?) that I want my 210 delegates in the mix!!!!!! Because I would personally instruct each and every one of them under glaring hot lights for hours and hours that they are to cast their vote for Al Gore!
Seriously, both Florida and Michigan are assigned a huge number of delegates for a reason! We are both huge, diverse, swing states, dude. Get a clue, DN frickin' C!
omg, I have NEVER been this outraged in my entire life and that, my dear fellow Goristas, is saying something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want Dean and Brazile gone and I want my vote back and I won't rest until all three things happen. As shrub said (omg, I'm about to quote shrub--apocolypse now!) smugly about his surity that he would win Florida in 2000: "You can write it down."
Write it down, people: Dean, gone. Brazile, gone. Florida and Michigan delegates, SEATED.
No justice, no peace.
