I'm all for freedom of speech, but an internet site also has the right to choose which entities to accept advertising dollars from and I have got to pipe up and say that it disturbs and concerns me that I am consistently bombarded with Ann Coulter banner ads on this wonderful Al Gore support site of all places. What is up with that? Must we display ads and therefore support such a hate-spewing nimrod of an arse as she?
I'm sincerely just asking as I don't understand why we display ads for that piece of slime.
We have been through this before, I have seen her ads also pop up on anti-Bush sites, if you can believe that one. She's like a disease that just won't go away.

Thanks for the history, ALGOREismylife. I don't get to this forum as much as I would like so I often miss something.
I read the thread you linked but I still don't get the situation at all because I thought that the site owner could choose who/what entity gets to advertise here. I am not for being super picky or anything, I mean, almost anyone who wants to advertise here, I say, thanks for the support. Almost anyone. But Ann Coulter is so extremely objectionable and hateful in every way that I really feel we shouldn't be supporting her by having her banner ad here, and also I feel that doing so sends the extreme wrong/incorrect message to newbies on this site that we are somehow on the same page with that horrid, to-the-right-of-Rush-Limbaugh-and-possibly-Hitler wingnut.
I actually can see no explanation for why her banner ads appear here. It troubles me. I love this site, but it makes me wonder a little about why on earth her ad dollars were accepted here of all unlikely places.
P.S. Okay, wait, I get it now (I think). I just posted why I get it in the other thread you linked (my last post in same). Basically, I think that the forum/board owner of an Invision board (namely our treasured Chris) has no control over the banner ads that appear, because even though he owns this site, "Invision Central", if you will, controls what ads appear. It is similar to if you own a Yahoo e-group. You are the group owner, but it is Yahoo that places banner ads that appear in the group's pages.
Once I read the ENTIRE thread you linked and read between the lines to figure that out, I was good to go. I get it now.
So, it is still obnoxious to see her objectionable banner but I'm cool with it because it wasn't our choice to have it here. It comes from Invision's ad contracts.
Got it.
